we got new standards in MA about a year ago, they also dictate to some extent what I can pack for my kid which ticks me off a bit so I still include cookies. Look at my kid HELLO you can see his ribs!!! although he is considered obese on the average weight scale...go figure cracks the Dr up. And the also tes body fat in school...again funny when Liam comes home with at risk for obesity. DH wanted to send that along with a picture of him in a bathing suite to the news as the new face of childhood obesity. Yes I am all for healthier lunch but if they are not getting healthy eating habbits at home its going to make a difference in the obesity issue.
Both my kids still drink whole milk. While on the scale he seems big its muscle My youngest is under 50% on weight so dr still has both on whole milk. We keep sweets in the house (well now under lock and key from me) DH and I were skinny growing up, not now but its not all from eating. Lifestyle too, so we try to teach balance. Its ok to have treats but to stay active. That to me is just as important if not more.
