Do you have a set age when you will allow your child to start dating?

Hi Rebekah! I don't have a hard set age as to when my kids can start dating. I think kids in this age group rotate through boyfriends and girlfriends so quickly that we as parents don't even know that they've had one! LOL I worry more when they are at an age where they are more sexually curious.... My oldest daughter is 15.... she has gone on 3 dates.... 1 of those one of her best friends (that I trust to have good judgement) went with them, and the other 2, her 13 year old brother went with them. She will not go on a date alone until she is at least 16! I try to go by the maturity of the kids though. And my daughter..... she complained about her brother coming along (he is the more annoying of the brothers!) but I think honestly that she was more relieved than anything. Boys have no choice but to behave themselves when a little brother is tagging along to report back to mom!!! LOL

I worry about the sexual curiousity too. IDK how I will handle that one. I know I have a boy and some moms think you should worry more about girls but girls get in trouble b/c of boys, its not all the girls fault. Its 50/50.

Oh it definitely goes both ways.... that is just the way it is. I just stop and think "man, I was that age once and look at what all I was doing" which, at least in MY mind, justifies being classified as a fossil! LOL

I know, I think about what I was thinking when I was in middle school and HS, wasn't doing anything until later on but still...to think that my son is growing up and maturing. It is very scary.

I'm in denial too, believe me. It seems like he is still such a baby.

Denial, party of many, here! LOL
Did I mention that I have a 4th AND 6th grader? My 6th grader will be the one that I worry about getting a girl pregnant and/or having "relations" early on..... he is a player (hahaha) and does his fair share of heartbreaking already. I try to teach him respect for women, so we will have to wait and see.
