I agree, and Grandma was going to buy him one until we talked her out of it. Those airplanes are EXPENSIVE! and until he can practice taking off and landing we are not putting one in his hands, much to his dismay =P
WAY too many. I guess that is what you get with geek IT consultant parents. My daughter uses her laptop a lot, but she mostly does homework, writes stories and watches movies/TV shows on it. The way she uses it has definitely changed over the last year or so; where it used to be a toy that she played games on, now it's more of a tool and a general media device, the way my laptop is for me.
In addition to that, at her school all the sixth-graders have netbooks issued by the district, which they have to bring to school fully charged up every day. I'm not sure how much time they spend actually using them in class, though.
I'm not really sure. I know they get a bit of time at school. At home they have anywhere from 20-60 minutes a day depending on what else is going on that day.
Lately the boys have been watching a lot of the bill nye the science guy videos on the computer.
D has been working on math facts quite a bit.
Brain drain stuff is Roller Coaster Tycon and Everybody Edits.

Caitlyn (13) is heavily into Facebook or Skype and any other social media she can get, although she has been on restriction lately and has not been allowed on the computer at all except for homework. Talon (11) is the computer junkie. He plays World of Warcraft with his grandma who lives 1000 miles away. Grandma runs a guild so they Skype and get to spend time together that way. He also likes a few games such as Team Fortress, and RoboBlocks, and he has a flight simulator that he practices on before we will let him get a real model airplane.

Nathaniel is not big in playing on the computer.
None unless he is typing a paper for school.
