An elementary school in Georgia is under fire for some questions a 3rd grade math teacher asked on homework. The questions: "Each Tree had 56 oranges. If 8 slaves pick them equally, how much would each slave pick?" And "If Frederick got 2 beatings a day, how many beatings did he get in one week?"

The school says this was an attempt to include a current social studies lesson about slavery into other subjects.

How would you feel if your child brought work home with these questions on it?

at our public school kiddo didn't start multiplication until 3rd grade, that is when they started cursive handwiriting too. Up until that grade things were pretty basic for us.
