When your kids have school plays or concerts are they at night or during the day? DS school ONLY does them during the day and I get night causes conflicts too but DS has a music concert the thursday AFTER school vacation. Hello working parents work and don't have endless vacation time. I've been off on a medical leave so I can't ask and its DH on call so he can't. Just kind of stinks because they NEVER do anything in the evening excpt parent meetings and even them the used to do one at night and the rest in afternoon but they had such a poor turn out they moved it. Doesn't THAT raise flags parents work. Does the fact that your afterschool program has a wait list raise flags? Apparently not. Just annoyed. Not that I miss much, DS hasn't been in school in 2 weeks and usually misses music for his OT so they will stick him in the back and he will fiddle through singing half that songs but still...

I have noticed our school has a mixture of them.  There are a decent amount of in school stuff like concerts, award ceremonies, etc. but there are also some night things.  So far most of the kindergarten stuff has been during the day, and I have noticed some of the older kids stuff is in the evenings.  They do a lot of fundraiser type stuff in the evenings which is frustrating at times, I will get home and be ready to just relax and get stuff done at home and am awaited by a child with puppy dog eyes waiting to go to eat at such and such a restauarant fundraiser, or go back to the school for this or for that.  We opted not to do activities in the evenings for a reason this year...

But yes, I do think it is a pain to have so many things during the day, and if the child sees all the other parents there and you aren't able to attend, we have had a few occassions when that has happened and it stinks!

Oh wow, I don't blame you for venting- that would seriously suck to have all the programs during the day. Our school always has them at night so I just assumed all schools did it that way.

When I was venting to someone they made another good. What about dad's in general. Even under your traditional SAHM house, this excludes dads and then the school complains because dad's aren't involved. Duh
