What does everyone do with their kid's past years' school work?  Do you all keep it or throw it away?  I have like three boxes of previous school work now. My son is in 4th grade now.

I use the rubbermaid containers too. But I go through them after every quarter/report card instead.

During the year, I use a long rubbermaid container to toss in papers and artwork throughout the year. Then at the end of the year, I go through each container to see what I want to keep for good. My problem is that now that they are in 7th and 3rd grade, the containers from years past are starting to take up a good amount of room in the garage. I think soon I will have to combine a couple of years into one container.

My middle one is only in kindergarten, but for the most part,  I have thrown away most of it this year.  I have kept a few select things in a box that I will reevaluate in a year or two.  I did the same with my oldest, I would keep any writing portfolios that they would send home at the end of the year with the compilation of things from the year, a few art pieces, etc. and then I would go through it every year or two and decide what I wanted to keep and what I was ready to get rid of.  Once she hit high school she determined everything she kept.  She would keep certain notebooks of things she did especially if she knew she may need it for another class later on, for example she kept her algebra notebook and binder for Algebra 2, her chemistry notes and binder to get ready for AP Chemistry, etc.
