Our high functioning autistic friend spilled the beans when my oldest son was in kinder. We watched and read "The Polar Express" and discovered that our friend just couldn't hear the bell any more, like many adults. It is all good. When they don't hear the bell, that is fine, but they have the ability to believe in what they want for as long as they want.

Unfortunately, this the topic of Santa being real or not (or any other 'folklore') should not come up in a 2nd grade class.
