For those who have Valentine parties at school or somewhere else, what will your kids be giving out?

Valentine's Day is a huge party day at our school. Did I say HUGE? One year, one of the room moms ordered party supplies from a professional party company, complete with tablecloths, games, craft activities and all much more.

At any rate, I always make the kids Valentines because I love any excuse to do something crafty! Between the three kids we have to make 66 Valentines for kids, plus about ten teachers. We did the melted crayons a few years ago, but I was thinking of doing them again since we've amassed quite a collection again. I also found Valentine themed treat bags at the thrift store severak months ago, so I'm going to try to do something with them too.

Here are a ton of ideas for you...

Store-bought Valentines are ho-hum. For Valentine’s Day this year, sit down with the kiddies to create something more original to hand out to classmates

Those sound really cute, Julie! I like the idea of a bookmark - something useful - instead of a Valentine that will get tossed right away.

We'll be exchanging Valentine's with our little homeschool co-op group that consists of 6 kids altogether. The girls weren't into making their own cards so we decided we'd make bookmarks instead. I printed some pre-made ones on-line and Lucy wrote the kids' names and her name on the back and we laminated them; I helped the little one with hers. They came out cute :)

we cant have parties in school. Under the new food policy no sweets are allowed (yah something about water and carrots just doesn't scream valentines day) but also there just isn't room in the schedule. The big state testing is just over a month away so they can't take classroom time. Now last 3 years we have done valentines, ok no room for party but time to give out valentines, so personally if you aren't doing a party why am I doing valentines??? we don't know about this year yet, the teachers decide as a whole if the 3rd grade will do something. They didn't reconginze halloween so thinking the answer maybe no this year so will see. Kind of feel sad seems they are taking away the fun school stuff.
