not the usual sort of music brag, but...
dd17 was three-ish when she started playing the violin spontaneously....she didn't want to work with me on violin, so I left a 1/32 violin (one of those Chinese "mystery wood" but playable jobs) and sometimes she'd pick it up and squeak on the E string while staring fixedly at her left hand.
I'll bet you couldn't stop smiling! How awesome is that?!
I'm playing a Mozart string quartet with my two eldest next month at the memorial service of an old and dear friend. Have played with my eldest in the past a few times, but never with both of them. And in August I'll be playing the Mendelssohn Octet with both of them, plus my brother, my sister, my SIL, my mom and a cellist friend. That will be the week before dd17 moves away on her own, so it'll be a great way to celebrate being together before that happens.
It's pretty special making music with your own kids.
