Gifted in higher education... any good reads?

Does anybody know good books or articles written about the challenges in the school career of gifted children after high school? Of the problems they face, but also of how colleges/universities can deal with them? I'm searching for this for some colleagues of mine who I sometimes overhear saying things that give me the shivers (like....'oh yes, THAT student....claims he's gifted...well...he just has to do his assignments like everybody else and that's that'....). I'm looking for more 'ammunition' than my personal knowledge on the matter....
