Friday Homeschool Recess 1/4

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out and play.  It's recess time!

Yay, Friday and my weekend off.  We've been so busy recently...I'm pretty sure I deserve a good weekend, too!  There's not much on the agenda, aside from church and normal family stuff.  I foresee some chillaxing.

The kiddos have ceramics today, and that's it for them.

Tonight DH and I are looking forward to our evening out to dinner and to see Willam Shatner's one man show.  Z is looking forward to spending the evening playing Wii and Lego with his friend's older brother-aka the sitter.  Until it is time to leave I need to do laundry, work on the kitchen, facilitate school, and get the dogs to the dog sitters (hoping DH can do this one) and go to the bank.  I'm waiting for Z to be at a good stopping point of Lego directions to start school.     My guess is that won't happen until the set is finished!

I always like one big snow event in the winter, where you open the door and there is a wall of snow to contend with, I am strange, I know. I guess not growing up in a snowy climate, makes me appreciate some things about it, others don't. I get tired of cold and dark but never get tired of watching snow flakes fall, or seeing big piles of snow stack up. That is the fun part.  Maybe it is being around kids all day, makes you appreciate childhood wonder that much more. My dogs love to jump in the snow piles too...and it is fun to see them happy boys!

Colds here so fighting coughing and sore throats. Back to school going ok, but next week the after school activty starts up again, and adds a new deminsion of crazy. Back to better food choices and regular patterns of daily life....hope that helps clear up the colds. If not we take a week off for wellness if we must!

The plow couldn't get to the top of the mountain...dh & dd18 caught a ride in a big truck about noon...one more visit to the pets tonight unless the owners get home (were supposed to yesterday).  The road shown in foreground of the photo is the one that isn't plowed yet:

I made pizzas (a GF and regular) and am thinking about pies.  And I did laundry...a cat is sleeping on an unfolded clean (at least it was) pile.  dd15 got my winter boots soaked through.  Sigh...

Heather, I hope you're enjoying your "date night" at the show.

We haven't had a good snow event in years, Heather.  I remember when I was a kid, having to stay home from church because we were snowed in, truly snowed in!

Hope your kiddos get over their colds.

So Deborah, how much snow did you end up with?  Or is it still coming down?  What a pretty view, over the mountains, etc.

We had 8.5" in our yard...some are claiming 15" but I've seen a couple of drifts that deep, but not REALLY 15"...  dh and our bicycle guest (here since Thursday nights; road will be clear enough for him to leave tomorrow) walked up to the top so I could take care of the pets for the last time before the owner gets home tonight.  The photo is a screenshot of our neighborhood webcam.  Wish I had my cross country skis...those are in the basement in Maine.
