Friday Homeschool Recess 3/1

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out and play.  It's recess time!

The kiddos are off to ceramics in a bit, but grandma is dropping them off...I just have to pick them up at noon.  I'm going to do a bit of cooking  while they're gone, and then if there's time, relax with a book.  I feel something (besides  AF) coming on, so I'm sure that dh's liberally-spread germs have  found their way past my defenses.  (Why is the concept of handwashing so difficult?)  DS and I have some school to do this afternoon.  And that's about all I have to say about today.

Yesterday dd19 and I went to town because we had mariachi...only we didn't...had been cancelled.  We stopped off beforehand to play with my chamber music buddy...we added dd to hack through the Pachelbel canon for the first time, and then she went to play with cats while we played 2/3 of the Kegelstatt trio with violin and viola...must ensnare a pianist.  The on to the second town to not have mariachi...first dd asked me to be a metronome for her piano practice (for an hour) and then I listened to the radio in the car while she took another hour to plan out the colors for her next print.  Then home.  She said something about going to a clotihng store to see if they had a suitable swimsuit, but I said I didn't want to be driving in the dark and it was going to be full dusk by the time we got home anyway.  Just now I made a fruit/veggie/nut smoothie and have lentil/rice/veggie/onion/lentil soup on the stove, so am taking a break on a bed shared by 4 cats.  Sprite is sitting like a sphinx, kneading the covers furiously with his ears down.  HIs head is as empty as a flowerpot, to quote "Holes".   I have been avoiding laundry...probably time to put a load in.  It always amazes me that I don't get nearly as much done when people are away as I think I should.  Today I MUST get some changes made to the evacuation maps that I've been working on...it seems like forever.

Thought I would stop by and say hello! Deborah, same thing here laundry piles at Mt. peeks again, and doggie hair sticking to clothes...good sign vaccume time again! Yet, I have been getting a ton of academics done, wth my mini-me students. I have also had lots of time to pray and think about spiritual concens, that is something I try harder to make time for at lent. I feel I did a lot of great balancing work during my spirtual in depth time, this lent so far. I feel very peaceful with it, and more free and focused for the work time put into it. Things had been put off spiritually and were brought back up, my Gods divine will as I see it. So that I can b a more balanced and complete person the rest of the year, I hope!

For my birthday....this month, I got a new computer. It was needed badly. We were down to two working computers for a famly of five heavy users with school, work and home needs all having computer task! My dh often brings his work  laptop home, but it does not have all his home stuff on it, so no on was getting everything done, with so few woking computers available, during the small time we are all together and all needing to get homework and such done, during those same times! So now we hope to enjoy more use for everyone with another laptop to use!  As kids age these days the tech needs go up! Good the old cars all still running,as we need to spend more on technology assistance laptops and keep transportation cost down as best we can with making that last longer!

I am tryng to make more working time for planning/sheduling an demands alone for myselfin my office and hving my own computer should help with time managing much better! So...again I have made great progress and had goo focus while away, from my old habits. Yet...I appreciate my online friends here very much that have given me encouragement and support galore. Something so hard to find with real world people being so very competitive, non-understanding, often users more than care givers, who never seem to notice walking in my shoes with my issues, is dang hard/painful often frustrating work!   I try not to complain so loud but geez living in a me, me, my problems are worse world...starts to make me feel nutty. I guess I listen more than I voice my own compliants. I try and solve my own problems after thinking thru it a bit to much! So letting go more and letting God control more, is very helpful to me...and I needed it, thankful lent came and focused my path and helped me see more clearly. I feel better by far, to deal with more challneges and demands in a greater focused way !

Thanks for still being here if you are listening it is apprecitaed and all prayer given to me...I thank thee!

Oh my goodness.  Best description of a cat.  Ever.  So apt, LOL.  Tinsel does the kneading thing too...except she kneads my hair when she thinks I should be getting up.

I'm sorry posting is still torturous but thanks for hanging in and still being here.

Heather, glad you popped in with an update.  We've been missing you.  I'm glad you're finding time for spiritual regrouping, as well as family and physical.  Yay for the new laptop.  I hope that helps the computer crunch somewhat!  I remember those days of computer sharing...and that was just dh and me, no kids big enough to need a computer very much!  No fun.  I was the first laptop user...LOL.  Now we each have our own, because dh and I both take ours to work and there would be no computer at home if we didn't have them for the kids.

Good morning. Yesterday was a good day.  Zeph a friend over in the moring.  This is an old karate companion who just became a homeschooler.  The boys had fun.  The mom stayed and we visited. Afterwards Zeph and I  went to lunch and then to Micheals for lap booksupplies ( starting a new one) and Whole Foods.  We put away groceries and then he did some school while we waited for DH to come home.

Yes, DH is home.  Poor guy went to bed at 7:30 last night and is still sleeping.  We've hardly had a chance to catch up.  He's home for most of next month-Yeah!   Our trip to AZ is cancelleld or postponed-Boo!  DH is traveling during that week and can't go.  I am very disappointed.  We have't had time to discuss rescheudling, but will broach that subject soon.

Zeph is doing great with his contacts.  Today he wears them for 6 hours-each day is one more, up to12 hours.  It is so nice to see his face.  Between the longer hair and the glasses, his face was disappearing.   He's being responsible with them and  is now an expert at taking them out, but still needs a couple of tries per eye to get them in.  Very happy  they are working out for him.

Yay, so glad the contacts seem to be working out for Zeph.  Bummer about not going to AZ though.  I know you were looking forward to the trek.
