Thursday Homeschool Recess 4/4

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out and play.  It's recess time!

Well, yesterday's plan of having brunch with dh at 11 worked well, and that's when he wants to be awakened so he can go do his weighmaster gig, so I will do that again today...except today it'll be lunch food I think.  I bought a nice sourdough loaf and I think sandwiches are in order, LOL.

The kids are in Albuquerque right now...today's the last leg of the trip.  They only have 250 or so miles to go, vs 400-500 like most days have been.  They've both enjoyed the trip, but will be glad to be notinthecarallday and be able to unpack and not live out of a suitcase.

Today's my stay-at-home day, except for a quick trip to the post office (a mile away).    It's supposed to get close to 60 degrees, so I anticipate some outdoor puttering, as well as indoor puttering.  I'll make sure dh has meals for the weekend while I'm working, work on straightening up by my desk, finish laundry, and whatever else my little heart desires.  Probably some quilting and music listening will get thrown in there as well, LOL.

Good morning!  I'm doing some dusting and then am meeting afrend for a walk with our dogs.  She's got a quirky black lab so I think I'll bring Frodo. I'm not sure how the 2 females would do.  When I get home I will put the beef stroganoff ingredients in the crockpot.  DS is going to work on his replica cartridge case while I'm gone. We have a full day of school ahead of us. I think he and DH have plans for a bike ride this afternoon.  I will be stuck indoors with laundry and ironing to catch up on.  DH has a business trip coming up and needs work clothes.  At least I'll have open window breezes:)

The sun was peaking thru clouds this morning, so nice to see. I am happy to report melting, and seeing the rivers flow and the ice is going away. Maybe Spring is here? Lets hope for no April snow. I am back from the Doc. I guess I really did know what was wrong with me and was doing good at self healing, as my range of motion has improved since the fall, but I do still have a real icky injury. We are going to try bracing it now, and I got a steriod injection. I am to ease back onto it, and slowly add more activity to strengthen as I can. It still hurts but it is healing, or trying to, it seems. So We will give it a month braced and with ease into activity. No long bike rides or 10 plus laps in the pool yet (ouch) but I can get in the pool and walk around and get the bike ready so that mabe by May I am riding a bit again!  If for some reason the brace and time thing does not work....well then we can worry and do whatever might need to be done.

I guess getting off of it right away, ice and rest did help a ton. It still will hurt and I will have to find balance in restrengthening and rest, with that. I am happy that it already has improved...from when I first fell. It still hurts esp. if I am on it to much, so gotta remember to go slow and ease back into busy time schedules!

Kids are good. One is off visiting college choices. The others have been good at helping me be at rest more...and avoid stairs except for at bedtime/wake up.   They already put together the Lego set we got for birthday girl. These girls can build....mini-engineers! Today for birthday, must go collect ballons and cake and open a few wrapped gifts, later tonight when the older sister gets back home. So today....birthday fun continues but in a restful way, so Mom can still heal!

Heather, so glad you listened to yourself and have been doing the right thing for your knee!  Here's hoping you can still avoid the surgery bullet.  Don't overdo things!

What colleges is your dd looking at, and what major(s) is she considering?

It seems checking out colleges in the area will be our "weekend vacations" in the near future. She and her Dad went to St. Cloud MN. and they both liked the campus/town. She is looking into Art History/business marketing as a Major/Minor to study. Then after the 4 year a 2 more addition in museum studies for now, is the plan. The only place for the 2 year add on near here is Iowa....but they do not have the recipcal neighbor state discount, so currently they are out of our price range for the 4 year. Plus she could change her mind in the study of the first 4 years!  Ofcourse in early adult life choices change easily, so we also look at the other options just incase she decides another idea is better.  We want non party school....the larger requirement! I KNOW party fun is the outside theme of college, but she is an introvert so she needs some actual educational study space, to be happy!

Yeah I am bad at under-doing, so this is not easy, and it makes me cranky and with the pain. I hate not being able to do, go, move, as I want too. ;(
