Thursday Homeschool Recess 5/2

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out and play. It's recess time!

Too bad we have to sit indoors at co-op on a nice day like today, LOL.  The kiddos decided to eat breakfast outside at least.   I suspect some classes may adjourn to the outdoor world, as well...probably not econ though as taking a final outdoors probably wouldn't be very easy!  I think dd will be done with her classes as of today.  Speech final was last week and they're just doing "fun stuff" now.  Econ final is today.  Maybe we can just skip co-op completely next week, since we're not in any science classes and I suspect science will be about the only thing still going!

After co-op the kids have counseling, and then dd has driver's ed.  DS and I will go get groceries in that 2 hour time slot.  So, it's going to be like 6:30 when I finally get home tonight.  Happy happy joy joy I just love days like this soooooooooo much.  NOT!  Bring on the end of some more things so I can live at my house instead of running so much!

Yesterday's last homeschool bowling was so much fun for the kids.  The staff turned off the lights and on the on the black lights and had an all you can eat pizza and nacho bar (chips, cheese, olives, jaleponos, salsa, chili) for the kids and parents with free drink refills.  They charged us nothing extra.   It was a fun time.  Zeph and a friend stayed after and bowled 2 more games.   I set aside bowling shoes and a rolling duffel bag at the pro shop for Zeph's birthday.  I will go and pick it up Monday.

I wound up going out to a new homeschooler talk.  I was invited to give the perspective of homeschooling an only.  It was a casual round table event at Panerra.  A nice evening out for me.

UGH!  We were suppose to be on the road an hour ago heading towards a CIvil War living history field trip.  We overslept.  There is no way we can get there in time.  Thankfully we have a Civil War reenactment happening in our town, so he will get the experience, I'm out the money for today though:(

Zeph is building.  I'm vegging.  In a bit school will start.  I have to go to the library and the post office sometime today.  I have several emails waiting for my response.

Tonight is adult/youth bowling.  Not quite sure what I'll do with my time alone.

No running for us, snow day....yes, it is MAY. It seems we are having very abnormal weather and the positive is I slept in and none of my community schooling kids had to get ready to go anywhere! The bad thing is my home schooling kid is mad, we are not shopping for flowers to plant if the yard this weekend!  It was on her list of May curicula, planting annuals...maybe we will have to do that in summer school this year, if summer ever happens. Mother nature seems to want perpectual winter, she is mad that there is global warming and so decided to force a foot of snow on us, to take notice of our environment, seeing so many just live inside buildings all day and do not care to notice the environment much at all. She will teach us, Mother Nature...yes, we will be her perpetual students, if we like it or not! I feel like it is Valentines day, or something, so I may just eat a lot of chocolate today.

My middle child slept in, complained about not seeing her friends today, and grabed her packed lunch from the fridge and went to her room. We may not see her all day! My home schooler and I decided to press on with education, and we read more of the "Between the Lines" book we are reading for read aloud. She is having me read, she is listening. She loves it. She wants to listen/read more. Yet....we gotta do the Math. Because we have one more disk to complete before we get a break, no matter the dates on the calander or weather out doors. So today is a good day, to do that, seeing we do not want to shovel to get out and everything is canceled anyway. We also hope to read aloud some history from "Story of the World" as we are behind with that. With the fire on, pajamas on and no where to go, it is a good day to read.

My poodle is in real protest. We had him shaved for warmer weather and due to some mats in his fur. I was ill so not getting him brushed as well as usual, so he had some mats that had to be shaved. My middle daughter put his sweater on him but he is still whining....maybe it is the weather, having to pee in cold snow with no fur? So I have him next to me with a blanket over him...and hopefully the fire will warm the air. Poor puppy, so sad. He slept in, and that warm bed with electric blanket was so comfy and now COLD, HARD, WORLD! He did not like the contrast at all. My oldest is making brunch for herself it is almost lunch. She has homework, she plans to do. SO it is like the good old days when we were all homeschooling together, on a cold winters day....sigh, memory replay....back to reality here in the future, to remind me of the good old past, we enjoyed. I did miss it, so I don't mind a repeat day here at all. My youngest and I will just have to bake. She is on a baking phase, lately. She has dog eared pages of recipes...and she nags like crazy until I do as she wants! So, I just do as she wants! She may be a great Chef one day, so I need to encourage that, not be the evil mother that makes her need expensive mental health visits, due to not giving her a childhood where she had some control of her destiny. I can't deal with that! So I will go bake, if I must. Maybe something chocolate...I have butter, eggs and cocoa we can experiment! SO glad we did not loose our power, some here did, do to Mother Nature's control issues!

"April showers bring May snow," real world curricula in Minnesota....my 11 year old came up with that one! Guess she would fail Public School Curricula that has that saying a little bit different! Oh well. Getting grades is not as important and real world learning, more valuable by far! Mini-me is making brownies for her baking experiment today....yum. She did not get any egg shell in the egg, improvement! H.

Snow in May is just wrong.  Your poor poodle baby, having his summer cut already and now it's cold.  Too funny.

Tell your flower-loving dd she can come plant the flowers I bought today.  I never got around to it.  They need to go in a planter basket and two hanging baskets, and the herbs go in the big pots.  I will expect the work to be done by the time I awaken in the afternoon Laughing
