Wednesday Homeschool Recess 4/3

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out and play.  It's recess time!

Wow, can it be?  I came to the page and it had saved my log-in and didn't make me log-in...and took me directly to the post page when I clicked create a new topic.  Holding my breath...I haven't clicked "post" yet so something could still re-direct me. But wouldn't it be wonderful if they've sorted out the log-in glitch??????

Today is grocery day, plus I have a coupon for Christopher & Banks so I think I'll go get me something pretty and springy, because I deserve it Laughing  DH wants to be awakened at 11 so he can go be weighmaster for a few hours, so I decided to have leftover smoothie for breakfast (I always make too much, LOL!) and then make a nice brunch or lunch that we can eat together...then I'll go do my thing and he can do his thing.  I already know what I'm fixing for supper, too.  So, I'm having a relaxing/refreshing morning.

DD doesn't know it yet, but I'm crocheting her an owl.  Actually, it's supposed to be an owl baby lovey thingie but hey, it's owl.  Plus, with all that's going on, she really likes having something from me close, and she really likes something textured that she can hold.  She has favorite squares in her afghan.  The owl is an owl head, with a granny square mini blankie...so she should really love it.  I'm sorry I didn't make it before she left, but in the future when she goes somewhere she can take it.  (I did quickly crochet her a scarfy type thingie with texture, since her afghan is too big to take, LOL.  But this will be better...since it's OWL!)

I woke up to this facebook message from dd.  (Background...she wasn't tired yet last night so she was sitting in the hallway outside their room so she could talk to her BFF on the phone without waking up my dad and ds.)

"This girl just walked out of her hotel room, couldn't have been more than 18, and I was sitting on the floor on the phone because I couldn't sleep, both of her wrists were bleeding, she had cut pretty bad, said she wanted to die. Saw me and started running away, she was crying, she tripped, and just sat down on the floor and I sat down next to her... Rolled up my sleeves, showed her my scars. She put her head on my shoulder and cried.

I got her up and took her to the bathroom and got my first aid kit, stopped the bleeding, bandages her up and made her a cup of tea.
We talked for almost an hour and a half....
I don't know how old she is, I don't know where she's from, I don't even know her name, but she said I saved her life.
I really AM making a difference aren't I?
I feel so loved."

We had birthday trip to Mall of America yesterday. Surprised today that my knee does not hurt more because I was on it a lot. It is getting better or more likely I am getting use to the level of pain I am at. I don't fear pain, I just deal with it when it comes, so probably....getting use to it. We had lots of fun. My birthday girl was all smiles and so happy, and fell asleep on the way home, totally exhausted form happy bliss. That is what I wanted for her birthday! I do feel really tired...from being out, so we will try and just chill today. Yet back to home and mess everywhere, which creates anxiety and crankiness for me. I will need to ignore it a lot. I think meatloaf sounds great and I have all the ingredients for that and can make it sitting in a chair....I may steal that idea for today. I even have non-medical peas and stuff for mashed potatoes....my favorite sides with meatloaf! Comfort food, sounds like a great idea. My dogs were so happy to see me, from being gone all day!

Oh, fun birthday day, Heather!  I'm jealous.  Mall of America.  Sigh. DD still remembers the roller coasters there.  She was terrified...but now she loves them Wink

Yeah I love roller coasters but none of my kids are big on them. We have fear of hights and dislike of tight spaces and one who does not like to be touched a lot by people she does not know...so all together they are not coaster people. I love them, the thrill, put me upside down, throw me into strangers....fun! I went on one last year at the Fair with some random kid and we both had a great time screaming upside down! My kids watched from the ground. My Dad had a huge fear of heights...maybe that was genetic to them but I got thrill seeking from my Mothers side of the gene pool. MOA was lots of fun, I had a scooter and had a few bumper car moments in it...I need more practice for sure, at driving those things! H.

Quite simply, I think so too.  But I hope she got some good sleep all last night!  She was really tired, and she's coming down with the cold ds was incubating when they left on Sunday.

PS, she didn't like your Texas weather yesterday.  Said it was too cold.  Not flip-flop weather Laughing

Yesterday DH had a coworker come over tio watch a company wide streaming meeting.  DH was up early and vacummed and did some cleaning.  We got a good amount of school done on the morning and then went to homeschool bowling.  It was a fun afternoon. The boy who causes all the problems wasn't there and the atmosphere was  more relaxed.  I had planned on making beef storganoff in the crockpot, but never got around to it.  We went out to BDs Mongolian BBQ for dinner with DH's birthday coupon.  They threw in a large free sundae too!

I second that. Homeschooling kids are not to bad when they grow up with great parental encouragement and direction, raised in the real world and in the home...not all bad, by far. Yet, the real world does offer real challenges, and K1 is doing great with them!

Heather, you have a BD's nearby???  Lucky!!!  We have a "local version" that is really good...but BD's has some sauces that the local doesn't have, and I miss those.  They closed the one that we most frequently went to on trips away from home, sadly, so now we don't go anymore at all.
