Weekend Wiggles 12/29 & 12/30

Hey moms and grandmas, come on out.  Weekends are for fun too!

Well, my thrilling day is bookended by multiple transfers to Detroit (again...in bad weather...leaves us down two rigs for hours at a time and that's not fun!) and having to slog my way through the most idiotic online driver training course ever.  It's the same course every year, and half of the stuff in it does not remotely apply to us, since half of it has to do with transporting wheelchair patients in a wheelchair transportation van, which is not what we do at all!!!  Thank goodness for the "cheat sheet" of answers, because if you miss one answer, it takes you all the way back to the beginning of the segment ...and it's a very slow-moving course.  Argh.

Aside from that, I'm going to listen to good music, create some New Year's graphics, and work on more blog entries.  I'm resurrecting my blog as of the new year (actually, 12/31)...it will be a devotional blog of sorts, but not a preachy type.  I'm looking at hymns and religious songs and the scripture texts on which verses are based, so it's a scripture and poetry blog, pretty much.  Where I can, I'm finding a nice performance of the song on YouTube and including that link, as well.  I'm sure I'll have all of 2.5 followers but that's ok.  It's worth my effort, personally, to do this.  (I do follow a wee bit in the footsteps of my hymn-loving grandpa, after all!)

And yes, if the phone rings, I promise to answer it.

I'm blogging for me and if no one reads it, that's okay:)  Though I did get a radom comment the other day so someone in cyberland read it.  I find it a good way to empty my mind.   Hope you have a quiet work day.

DH took down the tree and other garland and it is back in storage.  The rest of the decorations are my domain.  I'll get to them tomorrow.  The living room looks so much bigger now.  DH also went out to buy me shampoo-I've been out for 2 days and my hair is disgusting!  Each time we went by an Ulta I didn't have my purse with a 20% coupon and that bottle of beauty is costly!  Either DH was in the mood to be nice or my hair is so bad that he noticed it!  I plan on spending my afternoon reclaiming the kitchen counter and the laundry room floor with some reading time as a reward.

I have mostly been having my lazy day today. Needed it a ton, real tired, achy, and kid with cold so needy, I had to rest. Otherwise I will be ill next. Glad the others here have been self entertaning.  A low key weekend at home. Healing and resting is the main goal. Hope everyone stays well and has a great weekend in work or in play.

Gack, this weekend has been hell.  We are just so busy at work!  Today doesn't seem to be shaping up any differently, either.  I was hoping it would.  Sigh.

We did have a nice "chill on the couch" kind of night last night.  The kids ordered pizza and I picked it up on my way home from work.  They played Wii for a while (they got a used copy of Kirby's Epic Yarn and they're having fun playing it together) and then found a hilarious movie to watch.  I don't know what it was but it involved bumbling security guard cop wannabees that of course manage to catch the bad guys, but not without great peril to themselves.  The way it always is in the movies, of course, LOL.  DH was laughing so hard he was howling and so was ds.  DH ended up in to work in the middle of the night again, for a big case that he and a couple officers are working on.  Arrests made properly and now the prosecutor didn't want to keep them in jail because, even with confessions, they don't have the stolen money.  Well duh...they've spent a good chunk of it, and I bet if you review casino video you'll find even more...and anything they haven't spent they've stashed and the minute they're out of jail, you know where they'll be taking the rest of the money.  Not someplace local, for sure!  And there goes the case.  Argh.

The kids conned dh into a breakfast date this morning...guessing they'll hit a buffet somewhere.  DD is in a better mood around food these days and it was her idea.  Later today a friend of hers is arriving to spend two nights at our house.  The friend is anxious to meet ds and play Wii with him, and I have coached him on proper little brother behaviour, because her older brother is the most annoying obnoxious person ever (I met him, it's true!) and he is not at all nice to her, which is part of the reason she is "escaping" to our house for a couple of days.  So ds had better be on his best behaviour and show her how good having a brother can actually be...LOL.

I'm sure that K2 is the perfect choice to show how great little brothers can be!  Hope the girls have fun. Your movie sounded funny. We watched The Great Outdoors with Dan Akroyd and John Candy the other night.  DS and DH belly laughed through most of it.  I guess slapstick is timeless.

DH went back to bed.  He stayed up all night defending the country from aliens with his new computer game.  What was he thinking?  DS is studying for the geography bee next weekend.  He's going in much more cocky than last year and I think he will not make it as far as he did.  I am grading math papers.  Actually I am going over all repeating decimal problems and comparing TT answers to DS's work because I noticed some of his work was a happy accident-the middle of the problem is wrong but the beginning and end is right and the answer is right.  This is very tedious!  He needs to figure out where he is going wrong- I think it is with his lining up and neatness is an easy fix!  He's got some Lit Group reading ( just so happens another K12 selection so double duty with one book) and medieval history to do also.  Yep, back to school for us.

I contemplated the possibility of starting back to some schoolwork tomorrow...but I have a feeling that it would be a mutinous suggestion tomorrow morning.  I can't see ds thinking school is a great idea when sister is entertaining company and not doing schoolwork.  (Actually, I did hear her mention doing some stuff since the friend has stuff to do too.)  Plus we're going to a movie tomorrow afternoon and then there's food and entertainment that they think they're producing.  Schoolwork would fit where?  Or, maybe I'm just slightly lazy, LOL.

I think we all needed some schedule and structure. School gave us that.  I softened the blow with watching Wrinkle in Time last night.  DS just loved the book and the movie did a good job captuting the sentiment and tone s=despite the changes made to the story.  Movies after books always lead to good discussions.
