Hey moms and grandmas, come on out.  Weekends are for fun, too!

Well, I guess the sunny weather is done and the rain moving in.  There's even a whisper of the "s" word.  Shush, it's April now, let's not be having any of that Surprised  Last I heard from the kids (last night), dd said she was feeling a bit better...well enough to be at dinner with the rest.  No one has called me yet this morning...or texted...or messaged...so I have no further info, but I hope she's doing better.  DS evidently doesn't miss me...he didn't call at all, LOL.

I'm at work again...thinking of what to do to amuse myself.  Oh, wait, the people I deal with amuse me.  It's built-in entertainment, and they pay me to be entertained. Why does this not make me happier, LOL?

Rainy day here too, but a high of 60s!  DS has bowling this morning.  I've got to pick up a birthday card and mail it on the way to and from bowling.  The rest of the afternoon is school, laundry, play with the pups, and  maybe a walk if the rain stays at bay.  Dinner will be leftover beef stroganoff over rice and the pups will get some fliet mignon mixed into their kibble. We had a few pieces left from last night so I cooked them on the stove top for the pups.

I just went to order two Hobbit Lego sets for Zeph's birthday to earn double bonus points only to see that shipping was astronomical.  On a whim, I checked Amazon who had both sets on sale less than Lego and free shipping -yeah!

Got one guy sent off for a work trip. Now me at the girls on our own for the week and me with a rehab knee issue. So had to go out and spend more money than I like on products not near as good as homemade, so I can still have some rest time. Ordered some stuff to be delivered the kids can cook for me if I need to rest thru dinners....still better than to much take out.

Thinking ahead for schedules...as it has been one good day, one bad day (need more rest) and how to fit in physical therapy and medical self care with the demands of single parenting...I can do, I am capable, even with bum knee. Got meds and pain control stuff at the pharmacy, to help me deal with it. More Advil, needed here! It is the must rest componet that is always the hardest...so did a lot of prethought on how to fit that in. Ofcourse road blocks do happen on all the best plans but it is still good to try to have a good action plan pre thought out.

We have another college visit set for next weekend most likely. So no rest for the weary, even when down with pain to manage, and busy schedules to try and get done. I may miss a few things...and that is OK...I tell myself but I hope my good management of medical and home and family needs... prethought will work out for less of that. I am ready anyway! So not the most fun weekend but prepared we hope to manage life as it comes at us!

We had frozen lasana and salad for dinner, leftover meatloaf sandwhich for lunch...and have a plan for tomorrow so no one is going to be hungry. I spent to much on healthy fast items so the fridge is full the kids have stuff to pack and go. I did the grocery shopping and ordering for delivery. We wont starve at all. I hope to get into the pool for rehab work this weekend, and to get some energy out of anyone who wants to go with me. The weekend still has another day. A nice parent did pick up a kid and take her to church so she can have her social time she needs so much! The rest of us are self-entertaining...or watching to much TV playing to on to many websites! Having to sit is bad for my wallet by far! Heather

We have three bicycle guests, one going east and two going west. They all decided to sleep outside in tents. The temperature only got down to 57F last night (like a summer night)...warmer than the high forecast for next Wednesday. I'm taking dd19 to town; she has a face painting gig with the Art Club. I'm hoping to cram most of the recycling in the car and deal with it...would like to drop it off at the compactor...hoping it's not full. Otherwise I'll have to sort it into separate bins, with some stuff not accepted. Yesterday I spent the afternoon cleaning. Later: The transfer station wasn't open yet, so I took dd to her face painting event and then (because I didn't want to have to deal with the recycling later) went to the recycling center and sorted all the recyclables into their containers, reducing 6 big (think bags of horse bedding shavings) bags to two with mostly cardboard milk cartons, stuff I'll have to take to the compactor some time later. Then I spent some time hanging out with relatives while dd worked on her prints, and then we went to the natural food store and got lots of expensive stuff. We saw our oldest bicycle guest (62) on his way out of town, but as he was coming up the last hill on the way into town, he did not see us. dd15's babysitting job had fallen through...apparently hubby had not wanted to go to the dinner his wife was dragging him to, as far as we could guess. Apparently some money will be sent to dd anyway. dd19 is working at the cafe and then has a dogsit...I am not going to walk to her job to pick her up because apparently we have a mom mountain lion and two cubs in our neighborhood...hopefully the powers that be will not think it is necessary to exterminate them. (People her have no problem viewing them as vermin. We're in their territory, not the reverse.) So....I haven't got a chance at the computer yet. dh has been watching Thomas the Tank Engine videos on it, amongst other things... Deborah

Heather hbak20, sorry hubby is going to be out of town working, when you could use another set of (good) legs at home.  Sounds like you're being proactive in getting easier to prep meals, at least.  I hope you're still able to rest and rehab that knee, along with being the busier mom this week.

Deborah...awwwww, momma mountain lion and cubs?  I wanna see!  I know they're elusive, but I hope you'll at least get to see them.  And I agree...I hope they don't get eliminated just because they exist.  I detest what people are allowed to do to animals, just because we've encroached on their territory.  I wish we could coexist peacfully.

Wow, got in my car to come to work and it was 52 degrees.   Unheard of warmth at an unearthly hour of the morning.  I fear that may be the high for the day though...oops, hope my 3/4 sleeve top won't leave me feeling chilly!  I think I have a sweater in my locker, if I do get cold.

DD is singing at a Navajo church this morning (1030 mountain time)...say a prayer or send some thoughts that despite being sick, her voice will come through.  I know there's someone she's meant to reach out and help.

Yesterday the happy wanderers had a personal tour of Canyon de Chelle...the tour that's normally expensive and can only be taken with an Indian guide.  Well, they have that already LOL, so they didn't have to pay.  I haven't seen pics yet but they both really loved it.

DD has posted some pics on fb...sharing the links but don't know if they'll be visible if you're not a fb user.  Try, anyway.

Merramac Caverns

Route 66 (They didn't travel 66, but they stopped for gas where their route intersected 66, so she took the opportunity for some photos.  The attention-loving dog in the photos apparently resided at the gas station, waiting to soak up love from unsuspecting customers Laughing.  If you recall how deathly afraid ds used to be of dogs...any dogs...you'll know how happy pics of him loving on a dog make me!)

I'm in the same situation. DH left yesterday for Vegas for the week.

I also spent time online shopping:)  I went online to earn and use Lego double bonus points on some gifts  but was shocked with how costly shipping was.  Instead, I found the same items at Amazon on sale with free shipping and no tax --savings of  $41.15!  I'm in birthday shopping mood.  Zeph has mentioned (several times) that he would like a weighted bowling ball with finger grips.  I asked his coach and he said to hold off until fall and see how he progresses over the summer.  I need to hint to the in-laws that money for a bowling bag and shoes would be a good gift.

It stormed last night.  Buffy hid under the office desk and Frodo snuggled as close as he could to me and shook.  Poor pups.  They woke me up at 5 this morning wanting to play-poor me- and now are both napping.   I have gotten 4 loads of laundry done, the dishwasher emptied and reloaded, the kitchen cleaned  and am caught up with my ironing.  It was a productive morning.  More laundry today and all the school that went to the wayside the past few days.

Zeph slept in.  He was up late listening to me read Wizard of OZ.  We are starting a new lap book from Homeschool in the Woods on the 20th Century to prepare for the history bee.  The one we were working on will have to wait (until fall?) to get finished. l don't like jumping around, but he doesn;t seem to mind and keeps it all straight.  One of the topics is authors of the 20th century so we're going to try and read at least one work for each author.  At the same time we're working on the disasters of the 20th century-good thing we're at the library tomorrow. I have a long book list.

Oh, thanks for the reminder that we need to get ds' bowling ball worked on.  I think his fingers grew and the holes are a bit too small.  It was hurting him when we bowled for his birthday.  I meant to have dh take him to the pro shop and get it looked at before he left for AZ...guess that didn't happen though, LOL.  He's talked about wanting to get his ball weighted too.  He has his own ball...and a bag...but we've held off on shoes since he's still growing.  DD's and my shoes are identical except for the color...hers are purple and mine are pink.  We like to match Laughing

Hope your dh has a good time in Vegas this week.  If he gets bored he can go climb rocks in AZ with my peeps, LOL.

No play on this trip for DH.  If he's not on the show floor, he's in demos or at meetings or at dinners.    He;ll come home exhausted and with a loss of voice.

I decided that if DS is bowling 2xa week, he'll get enough sue out his shoes in one year to make it worthwhile.  Plus he gets 4 free games a week (for league practice) but shoe rental is not included, so it would probably break even with the cost of shoes vs rental for the year  If the Inlaws pay for them, I come out ahead!.
