Hi ,

I used to post lots on ivillage and read this site often when my add was young. I found this to be a great resource for her in kindergarden.

She is now 8 in grade 3. She is in a gifted program and doing well but she has been sick a lot and there

I could write a novel about this, but instead will just say that if your daughter is on board, it sounds like a great idea. Home based learning is not only about the student...it's a family endeavor. So of course it's about you. And it's about her.

Thanks for the kind notes. I think it has always been in the back of my mind.

My daughter mentioned that she is not sure if she wants

It is a wonderful gift to be able to spend time with your family! Especially if you are a kid person/teacher type who enjoys that sort of activity. Not everyone has the patience, loving care, motivation....or all the qualities it takes to nurture and teach. Plus with homeschool you do give up things....time to yourself, clean/kid free home, often it comes with clutter (takes over your office) like a newborn ...all the things needed to occupy there time! Or you can be on the run in the world, but even then, you are often packing bags, always have a partner to plan around and remain busy and have to be devoted to others....not your self. Teaching is a self less type gift. You could be using your gifts to earn more money, have more things, but you are actively pouring yourself into your students instead....investing in their future, more than your own!

I am thrilled now that I was able to home educate and make a difference in my children for their future. For me it was well worth it to get older and not have anything to show for it except an amazing gift of memories, love, crazy stresses and well....time....time spent with my children, teaching them, giving guidance...hopefully making them better people to grow a better world.
