DS coming home for a Visit!

Well - my DS who graduated in May from U.B. and now lives/works in Philly will be visiting for Thanksgiving. He & DD share an apartment outside of Philly. He now works for AT&T and was able to get some days off. DD works for Wegmans in Produce Dept and is also helping out with their Art displays. Both decided that Thanksgiving would be the better holiday to come for so it will sort of be ThanksgivingChristmas. We did visit them in October- DH and I were in their area for a dog-show and went out to dinner with them, saw the apt and they came to the dog show the next day. They have a lovely Apt! in a large complex- on the 5th floor that they share with a cat named Sully. Each has a bedroom &

That's great; it's always good to get positive news from the "other side of the fence." :) It's interesting with the two of them living together - do you hear a lot from both of them, or is one the better correspondent? Do you get double the dirt on each of them? Do they ever complain to you about each other? I think as long as my girls didn't have to share the bedroom or bathroom, it would all go fine, lol! But maybe with different genders, even that wouldn't have mattered. ;)

Do you have extra big plans for Thanksgiving? Is it usually a chance to celebrate with extended family or will it just be immediate family? This will truly give you something for which to be thankful.

:smileyvery-happy:

DS is actually the better at correspondence, for example 10/20 was DH birthday. DS did call & wish his Dad a Happy B-Day- after they chatted and hung up- DD called within 10min! because DS reminded her that it was Dad's B-Day! she foregets things like that!

No they don't rat on each other, they have told me that whoever gets home first- does dinner & then the other cleans up. They are 5yrs apart and for a brother/sister they are close- they always were - part of it was we live in a rural area so they depended on each other /played with each other a lot.

My SIL will probably host dinner and we'll show up with a dish or two. Since DD & DS won't be home for Christmas- we are going to give them their gifts on Thanksgiving.

That's nice that you'll get to see both of them on Thanksgiving. Will they be home for the entire 4-day weekend or just a couple of days? Do they have many friends still living in the area (or coming home for the holiday weekend)? Will you put up Christmas decorations early so it will look like Christmas when they get their gifts? Will they open them in front of you or take them back to PA to open on 12/25?

Ds lives nearby so he'll be with us for the dinner on TG. His gf's family gets together earlier so he goes over there for a while (I think for the hors d'oeuvres part) and his gf joins us for dessert. Dd won't be with us on Thanksgiving but will be home for 6 days at Christmas. The last time we saw her in person was last Christmas so I'm more than ready to give her a hug! Thank goodness for video chat so I can at least "see" her sometimes.

Actually we did pretty good at the dog show that weekend. DH and I had to leave on Friday as his mother had passed away and the service was Saturday- so the downside of the trip was we had to cut it short. Tom & Erika did not come back with us but they sent a lovely flower arrangement to the Church for their Grandmother.

Yes- they liked seeing the dogs (we only had 2 with us) We got to see thier Apt and thier cat, Sully. They have a lovely place- in a nice area- high rise Apt Bldgs- they have a small but usable kitchen, big living room area- room off the living room they use as a computer room (one end is Tom other is Erika) 2 bed rooms and 2 baths so they each have a bath.

Tom still sees the GF but they are not an "item" he actually was seeing another girl too! he is not ready to settle down which is fine by me!
