Living at home she should be able to save once she gets a nursing job
and if she has any close gf she and friend can share the apt and split the rent
if she canot find a 1 bedroom she can afford.
Living at home for a year or 2 after college is more common
since rent is more if your anywhere near the big

I lived at home for about 1-2 months after graduating grad school (Oct grad, Dec class finish) and then went back down to school for a bit to sit in the early spring interview/talk sessions, but came back home (Chicago) for a job fair, and immediately got a job from that, here in St Louis. It wasn't horrible at all, and worked out well all around.

This is the first summer ds18 is home from college and it might be a little awkward getting used to each other again (dh and I are up at 5:30; ds went to bed at 2:30 this morning!) But we'll get through it.

Depending on how much you own on the house, & with the massive drop in the value, you might be able to take a 2nd mortgage for half the CURRENT value, without needing to sell the house outright.

The problem is that I don't know if I could afford to increase my mortgage payment more than it is--my health ins. keeps going up too.

Two years ago, I thought DH and I were going to be empty nesters - and it lasted about 3 months!

I fully expect my kids to come back home for a while as they find jobs and save money.

I too, as some of the others, expect and hope mine comes home and stays after college. DS will graduate Dec 22 2011 he is still young will just be 19 his program was only an 18 month program (attends a technical college) our kids know that they can live here for as long as they want DS also knows he is expected to pay his student loans and to help me with my parent plus loan therefore he wont have rent to pay but will have other responsibilities.
