Its been awhile since I've stopped in here! Nicki passed her boards on her first try - only got the million number of questions so she was really nervous. The computer shuts down after 85 questions only if you've done really bad to that point or really good so she spent two days stressing about what she was going to do when her employer found out she failed. She's been working on a temporary grad license that would expire if she failed - but no fear, she's now a fully licensed LPN in the state of Wisconsin. She has a relief/prn position that depends on other people wanting our needing off but no guaranteed hours so she's looking for something with at least 3guaranteed shifts a week. No luck so far, most places want at least a year experience for that kind of spot, not a new grad. At least the relief slot is getting her that experience even if she is only getting about two shifts a week now.
Tim has finished his auto body program with a 4.0 GPA in his core courses and 3.5 overall and its now looking for work too. He just started looking so we're really hoping it will be a short search - not likely in this economy. He's looking in a wider geographic area, if he finds something too far away Nicki will quit her job and follow him since her job is more portable than his.
On another front, Justin is still loving school in Florida, has about a year left and he will be a qualified Harley Davidson mechanic. He's planning on taking extra classes to qualify in for wheelers, snowmobiles and off road bikes to make himself more employable in Wisconsin. Most shops here do more than just bikes since or bike season is only 7 or 8months long. He's pretty set on coming back to Wisconsin, says the army kept him away to long!
Zack re-enlisted in the army a few months ago, Uncle Sam now owns him until 2018. While he was in Iraq he started taking classes toward his bachelors degree online. Hits goal is to have his bachelors before he gets out and then use his GI Bill to get his masters in education. He is home on leave now, goes back to Texas on the 17th. He's pretty happy that he was able to be home for Wyatt 's first birthday.

You must be happy that Justin will be heading back to WI. Any idea how soon that might be?
Good luck to Tim & Nicki in their job searches. Even if they have to move 100+ miles from you, it would be good to get a few years of experience under their belts; then maybe they could apply for better positons in a city closer to you.
Although Zack's re-enlistment means you won't get to see him a lot over the next 5 yrs, it seems he is sure of what he wants. So are Nicki, Tim, and Justin, for that matter. If we know that we really want something, we're in a much better position to get it than if we are unsure of ourselves. I think they'll all do just fine!

It's great to hear the update, Rose, and it sounds like everyone is doing so well! Isn't it nice to have a time without any one in crisis or anyone dealing with problems? They all sound so grownup and settled. YAY!!!!

Gotta send us a new pic of the baby, Rose!! I was thinking of you because Bree is 6mo now, and not the LEAST bit interested in being on her tummy, or crawling. I read that a lot of kids don't crawl now, and walk later, as a result of the "back to bed" movement. She can sit up for 10-15 minutes by herself-IF she doesn't lean over too far- but can't get herself up yet. Did Wyatt crawl? Is he walking yet?
Now that the really IMPORTANT kids have been talked about, congrats to the other kids. Sounds like everyone is moving along with their lives, altho it has been my experience that JUST when you think they're set, something else happens. I'm here knocking wood for you!
Nicki made a point of teaching him to crawl after she read in her maternal and child nursing text that children who don't crawl are less physically coordinated and more likely to have learning disabilities than those who do crawl. If she hadn't done that I think he would have skipped that step because he loved his walker so much. We took some pictures at his birthday party last week, when I get to my laptop I'll share.

Good move! When I tutored students with reading difficulties back in MI, we had a ped OT present at one of our inservices, and that was one of the points she made. Her presentation was sooooooooo informative and that was probably the best inservice of all.
The Korean woman I tutor is caring for a young boy who never crawled and was not walking at 1.5 yrs. He began talking very early--around 1 yr. His parents took him for all sorts of tests and everything came out normal. Some kids are super-verbal and just late in their physical development, I guess.
I worry that with toddlers using iPads and so many techy toys, that we'll see many more children having difficulty writing. I wonder what we will evolve into when we no longer have to write or even keyboard--just touch. But I suppose we humans will still develop a little fine motor coordination when we eat; I don't think any tech gadget will take over that function.

Good luck w/ the job search. It's ironic that nursing is supposedly such a great field to get into w/ so many job openings yet ti's hard for someone w/ no experience to find a job. That's why my DD had to go 7 hrs away, but I know she wants to come back home after she gets some experience. I am going down to visit her on my vacation.
