Ok, my apologies, but I guess since both girls have been out of college for so long I just retreated to the backburners...but I'm so enjoying reading about all the kids we've "grown up" with here that I thought some of you might be interested in what's going on with my 2 girls.

My youngest has settled happily into married life up in Portland.

Glad to hear both your daughters are doing fine, and that you and your DH are, too.

Glad to hear that the girls are doing well. I have to agree with Sabr... when they get to their late 20s, they know a whole lot better what they want and don't want, there's a whole lot less gaminess in the relationships.

Sorry - how old is your older dd? I went through many relationships from 16-29, two which I thought would end in marriage, but those ended. I met this guy in May of '88 and we married in Nov '88 (I was 29) - really by late 20s you probably pretty well know what you' want and don't want thus things CAN progress quickly (we've been married 23 years so far)...

My dd is going to be 30 (eeek!!!) in March. They've been together 3 weeks today - and we are all going bike riding tomorrow. Her bf just bought a road bike and he is so excited to get out and ride with us - yes, US! They got all of the "what's important in a relationship" values established in the first few days, and most of it was based on what both of them didn't have before. Being connected to his S.O.'s family is one of the things that is important to the bf...the flip opposite of her ex. In fact, EVERYTHING is the flip opposite of her ex, which is why she is so happy! Of course, we knew he wasn't right for her from day 1, but there was no way she would hear it from us. She had to experience it for herself....7 years, and $25K + later. Sigh....! At least she is very clear about what she wants now!

Rae was 30 last summer, so I'm over it by now. But it WAS a bit of a bummer--for BOTH of us! Her bf Anthony will turn 30 in Feb. And Lolo and Will's bdays are both on Feb 2nd. She'll be 28, and he'll be 31. The kids (the girls & their boys) usually come over for Sunday supper, and a few times per month, they'll call spontaneously and say, Lets make pizzas, or Let's have a fiesta! Our get togethers have always revolved around food...

It was great to hear an update and it sounds like things are going well. I'm glad your youngest is enjoying married life and I think it's great that they're taking time to enjoy that before kids. As far as your older one, it's interesting - I knew very, very quickly that dh was "the one" even though I had fairly recently gone through a bad divorce and had no real plans to date or marry again. I think it's like you said - a bad relationship makes you know exactly what you want or don't want. We've been happily married 13 years and I am just as much in love as ever (and we were married within a year of starting to date). Good luck on the training! Dh has had his knee scoped three times (2 on one knee, one on the other) and tries hard to keep up with exercise so he doesn't end up with a knee replacement. That bike ride sounds like an amazing accomplishment for which to aim! And yes, the weather here in Chicago is crazy too!! We took down our Christmas lights on Friday and dd21 was climbing up in our parkway tree barefoot and in a tshirt (it was nearly 60) pulling the lights down. It was surreal! :)

Thanks for updating and keep in touch-
