OT - Jeans for Girls

Got a question for moms of late teen, 20-something girls.  Jordyn is small in the waist, a 0 or 1/2, but with athletics she has always had muscular thigh muscles.  Well it has gotten much "worse" since college and doing the acrobatic team.  She called me a few weeks ago and told me we needed to go jean shopping over christmas, all of her jeans are too tight in the thighs now.  I told her she was going to have to branch out, she has always worn Delia's jeans and they are definitely NOT made for her shape and age any longer.  Of course she asked if she could just bump up to a 3/4, ummm, no.  She likes to wear skinny jeans, with the occassional boot cut jeans, but she does tend to tuck them into boots often, so skinny is better most of the time.  Anyone on suggestions for where to start the hunt when we go to the mall over christmas?  I hate jean shopping, so having to take her, not at the top of my "fun things to do over the holidays" list...

I wish I could remember where my 24 yr old buys her jeans.  She used to work at Express and I know she said the jeans there were difficult to get to fit her because they were made for very skinny girls--she's about a size 6 or 8.  I think it would be better to get a larger size to fit the thighs and then she could have the waist taken in.

That's interesting because my hairdresser suggested Express because they tend to have "stretchier" fabric. I know we are definitely in for a day of shopping and lots of trying on...

My 19 y.o. daughter is a size 3 and has been for awhile.  She does have a "butt" (family trait) and she rides horses, so she has muscular legs.  I don't know if they would be as muscular as your college athlete, though.  We have never spent a lot on clothes so maybe her taste would not fit iin with your daughter's, but she always liked "angels" jeans which can be found at Kohl's as well as VF Outlet.  She never really liked skinny jeans, though, but does have some now because they are easier to fit in boots.  Do try some different sizes.  You never know!  She also has an American Eagle size 2 long pair.  To me, an even size signifies "misses" styling, and it may be a little more generous where your DD needs.  Good luck!

We ended up getting her 3 pairs at the first store we went to, Maurices, which is where I do the bulk of my shopping. She got 1 pair of skinny jeans and two pairs of boot cut jeans. Luckily the expensive designer pair she loved was on clearance and was 50% off, so we ended up spending $98 on 3 pairs of jeans, which wasn't too bad IMO considering she hasn't bought new jeans in over a year and these should easily last her quite a while. I will have to look at Kohls though some time for jeans. Normally if we were home and in town she would have went to Plato's closet to see what they had, but we didn't have the time at my parents house to find any resale shops.

I'm so glad you were able to find some that fit her!  Neither DD nor I are "shoppers," so finding something reasonable and quickly is a gift for us!!  Happy New Year!
