Hello all - it's been awhile for me too, so I thought I'd give the latest lowdown on my girls.

Hi Calmama,

The weather has been gorgeous! Thanks for adding your west coast spirit!

The girls sound good from your update. When is the wedding? Early July?

I sure do understand how you want to say stay when the kids come up with their plans to move... And how do you keep quiet on the little expenses of car insurance or health insurance much less just the transportation cost of moving especially with pets? They sure are blessed to have his cousin take them in.

How many hours away from you will they be?

I don't remember reading the fiance of your younger daughter losing his retail position. Your daughter sure has had a lot on her plate with the wedding plans and pulling in $ for household expenses.

It's great to read the updates - I always like hearing from moms whose kids have passed the college age and are navigating their way through life. It definitely sounds like your older dd is better off without her ex

Not sure how long a drive it is since I've never done it in one day. But I'm guessing about 10.5 hours, minimum. Eugene was about 8 with a couple short stops, and Portland is 2 hours north. And yes, it is VERY hard to keep quiet...sometimes I'm successful and sometimes I'm not! Being in health care, I've told dd I won't let her be without health insurance. I can cover her until they get married, then after that I don't know....hopefully she'll have a good job by then!

Hope to have most of the wedding planning done before she leaves. She'll be living here for the month of June so we can work on things then if needed. We'll probably have a bridal shower for her here before she leaves. The bachelorette is up to her sister, but they are hoping to use our cabin in Tahoe for the girls...and I told her I will be VERY upset if anything goes awry in the house! The wedding and reception are both at a small winery about 45 minutes from here.

Hi Theresa! The wedding is the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. And yes, it is easier planning it the second time around. For one reason, we are using the same vendors as we did for her older sister, so we didn't have to search around. The other reason is that this dd is a lot less picky! She wants a fairly low-key wedding and has less people she's inviting, so it should also cost less. We have set aside the same amount of $$ for both girls, with the idea that they could either spend it all on the wedding or have a cheaper wedding and save the rest for a house or just put it away for padding to start their life together. This dd wants the money so they don't have to sweat the first year - again, hopefully she'll find a good job and they won't need to spend it right away!
