I took DS & went down to see DD in Baltimore for a few days this week.  I have never been there before--it's a nice city, not huge but it has some really nice neighborhoods and of course the Inner Harbor area is very nice.  We went to see her apt. & I want to move there!  She lives w/ 2 roommates in a big building that looks like it used to be a factory.  She's on the top floor & has a water view and the place has a swimming pool and only a couple of blocks away there's a little square with some nice shops, restaurants & bars.  One day we also went to Annapolis, which I really liked.  It was also very nice that she offered to pay for things--she bought us lunch and Orioles tickets (way cheaper than Red Sox).  It's really nice to have a working adult DD.  lol

It's good to hear that your DD is getting along fine in Baltimore. Does she work primarily one shift, and in one unit, or does she rotate?

The kids must have enjoyed being included in the video.

DS29 knows of some friends who graduated from Johns Hopkins SAIS (Advanced Internationsl Studies) who, unfortunately, cannot find jobs.  Be thankful your DD chose nursing!

She always works in the one unit--she had to get weeks of orientation and classes to learn about the cancer drugs before she was allowed to have her own patients.  She does alternate between night & day shifts--she says she likes nights which is good.  She also has to work every other weekend.  Right now she is here watching TV since she has about a week off--without using any vacation time!

You absolutely have so much to be proud of, Music!  Your visit sounded wonderful and yes...it sounds like I'D want to move there, too!  I visited DD26 and DD28 (both live out of state), but still paid for pretty much everything.  I make less than both my daughters, but neither has a high paying job, so, because of new dh (who makes 4 times what I do), I still feel compelled to pay.  I tried to talk DD25 into nursing, but getting a certificate in Medical Assistant is about as good as it's gonna get for her.  She struggled in school, so probably never would have made it through a nursing program anyway.  Dh had brain surgery 2 years ago and I had nothing but the utmost respect and awe of the young nurses (fresh out of college) who took care of him as his post-surgery pain was like nothing we can imagine.  Those girls were angels with wings, I swear.

Congrats on you and your DD's success!

It's good that your DD likes nights - not everyone can work that shift.  Back in the day when I did shift work, I had to either work ALL night shifts or none, because my body couldn't adust to being up all night just a few nights a week.. My DD never did adjust to working the night shift.

Sounds like things are going well for your DD.
