If you've been lurking, please introduce yourself! Tell us about your CS, and how far from home s/he is going to school.

Thanks, Tracy - I should PM her, or she should feel free to PM me.  I've attended 3 SUNYs and have had many nephews, nieces, friends of my kids, etc who have gone or are going to them too.

I don't know if she still gets on with all of the problems, but I'll tell her.  If not, I'll get her email and relay it to you through PM.

New to ivillage!  Found this site looking for some support from other parents with college age students.  First started looking for a book to read, but then came across this site.  Looks much better than a book.

I CS daughter is a freshman.  I have a younger daughter that is a Sophomore in HS.

CS has been at school for a month.  She has not been home yet, which I think is a good thing.  She is 3 hours away.

I did very well...all through senior year, graduation, summer, send off (not a tear..was so excited for her next phase in life).  Apparently it just hit me last night.  I cried out of nowhere for hours.  Could not stop. Wasn't even sure why it started.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Welcome and hugs to you! I cried even though ds was 10 minutes away! (but he didn't want contact; still doesn't unless he needs something...)

Welcome SuziFC91! I didn't start weeping until right before my CS left for college, then wept off and on for about a week afterwards. My eyes dried up until the next time I saw him, and every parting after that for a couple of years. Finally by 3rd or 4th year I was able to say goodbye to him without a single tear, although maybe my eyes misted up a bit LOL.

Glad that you found us. Please feel free to jump in to any conversation or start a new one.
