My oldest daughter is going to be a freshman at U of Oregon this fall. She is attending introduction at the college yesterday and today. She has been texting me off and on and she texted me all excited that she got her student ID and her schedule for next year. I guess you can tell I never went to traditional college, I had her at 18 during the spring session of my freshman year of community college, and I worked full time and went to school either part time or full time every semester until I got my associates and bachelor's degree, so her college schedule looks so weird to me.
She's taking 15 credits, Latin 101 M-F 9-10 a.m., Freshman Seminar Buddhism through Art M & W 12-2, Freshman Seminar Writing for Art T & TH 12-2, and Writing 122 T & Th 7-9. She is double checking her sports practice times. She has blocked off on her schedule M & W 4-7 and T, Th & F 2:30-7. She has practice as well as required study sessions and academic counseling with the team's academic advisor and she wasn't sure if the blocked off portions included the required study and counseling times or if she had to fit those in somewhere also. I have a feeling they include the study sessions as our understanding at the recruiting weekend last fall was they have Wednesday and Saturdays off of practice, so if she still has Wednesday blocked off on her schedule I think it means that's blocked for study session time.
She only needed 12 credits to be considered a sophomore, so she'll be sophomore status after her first semester there. And she said she has all of her social science credits done already because of community college transfer credits and AP scores. Very excited for her. She has to be on campus in exactly 2 months, September 22 to start athletic "hell week" and then starts classes on September 30th.
