What signals Autumn is in the air to you?
Has it arrived in your part of the world?
What do you like most about this season?

The need of sweatshirts in the evenings, leaf colors changing, people putting out mums or corn stalks or pumpkins...it's just starting. We've still had some days in the upper 70s but like tomorrow night we might get down to 42, so I think we're getting there quickly now!

Football season is my signal ;)
Is any one going to homecoming, or a parent weekend?

I know it is fall when our nights get cool enough again for my tomatoes to set fruit.
The high school here, since we start so early, already has had their homecoming.

The Gators homecoming has a tradition called GatorGrowl the night before their November football game. The lead actor from the TV show on Community college is going to open the show wih comedy then they have the GooGoo Dolls and fireworks in the stadium. The Gators play Vanderbilt for the homecoming game

Hi Sue,
Ahhh pumpkins! We had a keurig coffee taste table with pumpkin spice and hot cider and we were chuckling it almost made you cold just inhaling the scent!
Are you going to cheer on the Cardinals or are you still a Chicago baseball fan?

Sorry, been here since '84 and have somewhat been converted - I've got my Pujols shirt on right now - the company said to wear Cardinals stuff today and Tuesday (first home game)!

I worked homecoming/family weekend last Saturday at ds's U (I'm on the steering committee) - for them it's soccer! I only worked the hospitality booth for 2 hours; didn't go to the game.

To me, fall is near when the kids start school, with it really being here when the first frost arrives usually around Sept 25. I think I had to scrape frost from my car windows about the 20th this year. Our trees are about 50% color changed at the moment, and our local fall festival was last weekend - there are a dozen or so apple orchards in a small (800 pop) community about 15 miles from us that we always go to, of course it all revolves around the apple harvest. If we could have fall all the way until Christmas, I'd be happy!

no snow here and I am north of your north country.

The leaves are just starting to turn.. it all has to do with hours of sunlight, not temperature. The leaves are just starting to fall off the trees.

The veggie garden is done; the flowers are finished. I have to go out and clean out the garden. And it is raining; fall means rain here. It's still warm

Hi Sue,
Is the hospitality tent for alumni or parents? Do you end up seeing parents you assisted from previous years? What else does your committee get involved on?

My Daddy had season tickets to the Phillies games however like you I cheer for the hometeam. Go RAYS! They and the Marlins show the rest of the league, high salaries sure are not necessarily winning! Do you think Pujols will retire a Cardinal?

Hi Sam,
I can't wait until you get here! We can spend a day seeing local spots or burying our toes in the sand at the beach! Patrick is beachfront and beautiful!

Ozzie was here when the Marlins won the series before soooo at least we know what we are getting! It would be nice if we had a manager for more than one season! The Miami stadium is a beauty! Watching games in Miami outside is one sweltering humidity fest! Isn't there a rumor the Red Sox GM is headed to Chicago or was that for the Cubs?

Wouldn't the black walnuts make huge dents in a hood of a car...like a hail storm, I bet? Do you harvest any to cook up? Do you grow your own pumpkins? I am still pulling watermelons. I have not taken out my harvest/Halloween decorations...maybe tomorrow when I get a day off. I did pull all the Hallloween decor to the stores front impulse displays last week because our Christmas truck arrived... Guess that is another way I know it is fall... Decorating Christmas trees at work ;)

Anybody else seen Christmas out in stores?
