It has gotten SOOO terribly difficult to post, that I just don't have the time or patience any more.  Elc asked on another board why no one was posting, so after I FINALLY was able to post there, I deciced to drop over here, and by the grace of God, I was still logged in--which RARELY happens.

So the news is that Rae finally has an shot with a school that does NOT require her to live in Chicago.  It is with a chain of charter schools, and they have been talking back and forth with her for a while now.  The principal at one of the high schools is very impressed with the Art Fair she has every year, and is coming to her school to see it for himself.  She also has been invitied to come to one of the other highschools in the chain, to teach a sample class.  Since the charters are in Chicago, and are affiliated with CPS, they will also contribute to her pension, so itthat would be a plus.  And even tho the charters pay less than CPS, if she moves in with her bf, she would be saving at least 10K in AFTER TAX money on rent, utilities, car and renters insurance .

Plus, her bf told her, "When they ask why you want to leave CPS, do NOT say you have been robbed 3 times and your car keyed from stem to stern by a student you were failing.  Say it is because your fiancee lives outside the city, and you want to move in with him."   She said, "So you want me to LIE to my prospective employer, that you are my FIANCEE?"  HE said, "If you get the job, it WON'T be a lie."

And for the cherry on the cake, she IS going to Spain, for 10 days, with her best gf from crayons.

I'm sure you/she knows that charters have the lovely option of letting teachers go for no reason.  My best to her...my son is still working toward teaching art too, as is his new gf.

But it sounds like things are going awesome for her!

Finally got 'authorized', at least for now. Had to go all the way back out to the main Ivillage page. Anyway thanks for the update. Sounds like things are going great for her!

Well it took me several times to get "authorized" to post on the board that I created some 10+ years ago - but here I am. Sounds good, sam - but the "fiancee" comment piqued my interest! Is that a backdoor proposal? My older dd is still happily cohabitating with her bf and apparently still saying the plan is to get married some day but I don't see any rings yet. They have been living on minimal, and I mean VERY minimal, rent for over a year in his grandfather's home with the eccentric uncle who is almost 50 and never left this house. Grandpa just passed away so there are going to be some big changes ahead, as the family will eventually sell the house. Bf is talking about finding a houseboat and living on the water (parents have a boat parked there and they stay there sometimes). Sounds a little far fetched to me but who knows! Stay tuned.... :)

Sounds like she has plenty to look forward to.  Hats off to her!
