I am driving to Texas with a uhaul full of left behind stuff, huge pictures/artwork and a dining set.
We will have a picnic with family then help my youngest move to med school.
So we are headed into the heatland.
I do love a sea breeze.
I am on vacation until Aug 5 woo hooo!

Oh no on the dog getting out the window! And yay on the financial aid! Jason signed up to teach an MCAT class and they called him for an interview earlier this year; unfortunately it was in Chicago and he was here in Peoria so it wouldn't have been worth it to have to drive 6 hours round trip once or twice a week! He did take one when he was at NU and I think it helped a great deal - he did well on his mcats.

Although med school is super-expensive, sometimes the new docs can get a break.

Really? Good to keep in mind. I know absolutely nothing about all of this as far a loans and med school. He didn't get any needs based money nor any of the small amount of academic based money they give out. We're helping with his living expenses at this point but he's taking out loans for everything else. He actually is thinking about either ER or family practice/primary care but from what I understand 3rd year is when they really start figuring things out.

There's a program out there where docs can have their entire loan forgiven if they practice in a medically underserved area for 5 years... which is why our hospital has a revolving door for primary care docs.
