DD's graduation is on May 13--this year the univ is doing it kind of strangely, to me--the big commencement is on Fri. at 5:00 and the indiv schools will have the giving out of diplomas on Sat.--since Dd is in nursing, that is not too many people.

My undergrad school had a big ceremony and then handed out diplomas in ceremonies with each college or major I can't remember. My undergrad school was cheap - the speaker was always the college President.

Grad school, I don't know. I skipped it to take ambeach vacation with my husband to be.

Jeanette Walls is an interesting choice. Does she still live In WV? I was not really a big fan of her book.

Gpamelac- we read glass castles in bookclub. It is interesting. I wasn't that crazy about it for a number of reasons but most of the book club members loved it.

We are lucky since the nursing school only has about 70 people. I was in arts & sciences which I think had about 1200--could it have been that many?

I have read Jeannette Walls' books so I would have liked to see her.

My daughter graduates from UC Davis on June 12th. Her major is in the College of Letters and Science. They have divided it up into a 9:00 ceremony and a 2:00 ceremony. I looked at the 2:00 list and there are 38 majors graduating. I'm pretty sure some of them are very small, but I still forsee a long ceremony. Each graduate is allowed 4 tickets. I haven't heard anything about the guest speaker. We're still trying to decide what we want to do as a family to celebrate. I'm pretty sure she will be doing plenty of celebrating with her friends that evening!
