Guess I'll post an update while I can

Jason had his final exam Monday, which brought him to the end of his 2nd year of med school. The next few weeks will be spent studying for his step 1 part of his USMLE/boards. He's scheduloed to take those here in Peoria on Friday, June 8. Then on the 17th he and several of his med school friends are headed to FL and leaving on a cruise. They return on the 22nd and the week of the 25th is orientation for his 3rd year rotations. Justin is living at home and started working full time last week for Plant Essentials, which is a plant vendor that comes into the local Lowe's stores for the summer. The job will only last into August but at least it's something - he's been actively looking since January. He's still hoping to get into the Army. He was all set to go at the beginning of this year - all the paperwork is filled out, he did well on his asvab, etc. Unfortunately a stupid choice he made in the past came resulted in him not being eligible until this coming December and then only if he can get a waiver so we'll see how that goes.

Hi Pam - I hardly ever come here anymore, I too am frustrated with the changes (can't get rid of my signature, which is missing the pic and half the text now), but I will probably share an update while I'm here too.  In a nutshell - congrats to Jason and good luck to Justin!  2 totally different kids, but both finding their paths as young adults.  Parenting never ends, does it?!

Thanks for the update!! It sounds like Jason will need that vacation.!! I am glad Justin found something for now, the media keeps saying that it is better, but it is still hard out there.

Good to see an update Pam... I hope Jason does well with his boards.  And Justin.... I hope he finds his niche in life sooner rather than later.  I hope the army thing works for him, I know with Iraq over and Afghanistan winding down it's getting harder to get in.  When he does go.... well you know where to find an experienced army mom!

I don't come here very much, it keeps telling me I'm not authorized to post unless I play around with it a bit.   We still need to do that get-together!  Maybe June?

Glad to hear Justin got a job for summer, Pam. And it sounds like Jason will be super-busy with boards and his upcoming 3rd yr of med school--good thing he can squeeze in that cruise with his friends! DS23 was just home from MI for a week, and DS30 had his last exam on Monday. Fortunately, they both got summer internships at Target & T.Rowe Price, respectively, but the younger one's is only for two months. In August DS30 heads to Barcelona for one semester. They are both with their same girlfriends, but no talk of marriage yet. It took me 5 tries to post today, the main reason for my infrequent posts. It seems iVillage is being drowned out by Facebook & Twitter, neither of which I post to, but that may change; with all the special deals they offer for "liking" a merchant on FB, I just might have to get active on that site. Being with both sons is all I needed to make my day on Sunday. Hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Days!

Good luck to your sons!  Here's praying that the waiver comes through for your Army-bound son.  If only we could give them the gift of being able to see around corners like we can.
