How is your week? Any plans for the weekend? Are you getting excited we are less than a week away from Thanksgiving? I have been on the retail run! Playing store over 60 hours the past 2weeks! Last week was our holiday preview and this week is our holiday fashion showcase... I have had very little time ...for an IPad ...or eating! My boys come home this week. I got a text from my oldest he was on tv in an hour, time I read the text was 6 hours after he was on. Thursday early morning hours ...230am.. I heard what sounded like cardboard boxes being thrown in my living room by screeching cats. My female cat was in the laundry room.. The male was growling and looking out the front living room window. Some creature had torn our screen out of the front window! I called my husband who was traveling...to tell him I was under attack by a werewolf...he told me because it was so dry maybe the squirrels or birds were trying to get the cat.??? Obviously I woke him up and he wasn't thinking it is dark and birds and squirrels are not out at this hour! I woke up, after finally getting back to sleep, with laryngitis so ...my week has been a kick! ;) Got to go catch up on some baking now for the boys, I just got home from already doing my 8 hours today. I work 5am to 10am to set up the fashion show tomorrow and finally get a day off Sunday!

I am working 6 days this week which is good because it keeps me busy. The boys are storm stayed as the roads are horrible due to snow and blowing snow. Im hoping to craft and clean house and do some holiday baking on my two days off. Hopefully the boys will be home next weekend if the weather clears up. Last winter, we didnt see them for 3 months due to the really bad winter. We're hoping its not that bad this year. So far we've been better than last year.

Maybe different there but here someone under 18 can be on the road if they're returning from work or a school event, later than if they weren't...

Nothing that exciting here- ds19 did call yesterday very excited about his grades. Now note this is the kid who hated high school, and did ok his first year in college - but he's SO excited that he's doing very well this semester. I think some of that (his calling me) came from you guys counseling me/us that the first year can be rough, but if they have the passion, it can definitely get better as they learn the college ropes. I'm hoping that my gentle encouragement (albeit cringing inside at times last year, and definitely in HS) that you guys suggested has really helped - it was so great to hear his excitement during that call! He's coming home Tuesday, and then goes back Sunday (although he's only 8 miles away, he works Friday night, Saturday night and Sundays so we rarely see him on weekends and even then it's often just to throw laundry in and take off, and then he'll swing by for another 15 minutes to pick it up) He said he's excited to be home 5 days (even though he'll be working a lot)...

Today I'm going on a tour of our wonderful old performance theater with a friend, and then to lunch with her. DH and I might go to this crazy bowl thing with the local SCCA chapter - we'll see as it might be storming by then and he's lukewarm on going anyway. Otherwise the usual chores and I hope to do some reading.

What could this werewolf have been!?

Kitty, I have heard that out west had been hit by early winter storms, especially Calgary. We have been spared winter so far. We are in that "crappy" time of year-no snow and dreary nippy weather. There was a short spell of snow pellets but it is all gone now.

I can understand not wanting to drive during a blowing snow storm. I've been in some "zero visibility" situations on the 401- not fun.

Kitty lives in the Canadian Prairies. Think North Dakota and Wisconsin weather.

Im in Saskatchewan. We sometimes get snow at the end of September. It does melt. When my eldest son was born, at the beginning of September, we came home to a foot of snow on the ground. Thank goodness it melted! When the wind blows and the temperature drops to -40 (a couple of years ago, three weeks in December we had -40 every day), you stay home and do a lot of crafting! :smileytongue:

Hi Liz, Your boy will have the baptism by fire starting his retail life this week! We have had to hire because there is just no way to schedule enough folks to meet these 24 hour work days! Do you think he will like picking up the fitting rooms? Has his sister warned him...about the frustration folding a stack of tops then a customer right in front of you rips themall apart getting one out of the bottom? Does he get a good discount? I'm sticking with the werewolf story since breaking dawn opened ;) could not see anything and my reaction was to rap/knock on the window really hard! Then I went for a flashlight ..still couldn't see/find anything. We live way back off the road in a Spanish moss draped oak, tall palms and pine hammock.... I know our cat runs when people come to the door, but he is a hunter, so I am thinking raccoon, bobcat, coyote, swamp ape? Right outside this window I have a lily pond with fish so I kind of have a diner for hungry critters. My oldest was on tv presenting his finance dept's plan to the city council for bdget projections and revenue Performance. He spent yesterday with his younger brother in Gainesville for the Furman game. I expect he will be home later this afternoon. I started a gumbo this morning so dinner can be whenever.
