Happy Mothers Day!!

Hope all of you are enjoying "our" special day!  Are you with or without your CS today?  Did you get any special recognition from your kids...or spouse?

One of my dds lives out of state and one is local.  On Friday my older dd (the local one) and  I had a nice day together, since she is working this weekend.  We had lunch, walked the local reservoir and then went shopping - and she had fun convincing me to spend my own money on myself!  Her fiance has helped to keep her spending in line and they are trying to save for both a wedding and a house, so she controlled her own spending urges by urging me to spend, LOL!  And I must say, I obliged - bad me, but it was fun!  Today, after she gets off at 3:30 we will be joining her fiance and his parents on their boat, and the 2 of them will be making us dinner.

My younger dd and I spoke on the phone not too long ago.  She apologized for not doing anything but they just moved and she hasn't had any time to pick out a card or a small gift.  I really don't care, as long as I am acknowledged and appreciated.  She wrote the sweetest thing on facebook about me, and that meant more than any gift because it was from the heart!

Dh left me this weekend to go chase the Tour of California!  But before he left he left a car, a bouquet of flowers and a large bag of my favorit peanut M&M's on the counter for me while I was out on a bike ride - I trained him well! ;)

DS21 came by yesterday (graduated Saturday) with a numbered packet of matted photos (he's an art major) that was a progression of thoughts/ideas - kinda interesting but I could still use interpretation!  But it was very sweet.  We then went to one SIL's to celebrate Mother's Day (which more or less turns into MIL's day) - we ordered in/kicked in for Chinese so no one had to cook. I melted some milk chocolate chips and added a little oil for dip and brought 2 pounds of strawberries as an 'appetizer' (treat).

What I asked for is for the 3 of us to go to the large park where the 1904 World's Fair was held, and ride together in a paddleboat on a nice noncrowded evening - I think we'll all enjoy that.  Might have to let graduations and proms and such die down first; no rush.   DH and I did it once; where the waterways run in that park, you don't even see cars or other people walking around - you see unusual waterfowl and turtles and such - quite unusual in the middle of an urban setting. Looking forward to it!

Without the kids. Dd texted--she's in London and doesn't have international calling so she texted some photos: of her holding a bouquet of roses, another of her smiling in front of a lovely rose-covered house (and the message "surprise! I bought you this house!) and a shot of a flower stall. Virtual Mother's Day gifts!

At night ds called. He had been at a weekend bachelor party in the foothills (near Angel's Camp) and had just gotten home.

It was a very low key day, just puttered in the garden and hung out in sweats. Dh made me breakfast and offered to take me out to dinner but that would have required getting dressed/makeup so I requested he pick up a pizza instead, and later we watched a movie.
