My cat, PuffDaddy, died last night.

.DSC_0016.jpg

Puff had a heart murmur and cardiomyopathy. My other two are mourning. One was his litter mate. She has taken to the top shelf of our pantry and is attacking me. Makes me cry even more to see their heartache too. Have any of you experienced animals mourning each other?

No one, not even the dogs, are eating...

I spent last night making a memorial orange flower garden..Moving an orange sunset bougainvillea, aloes, marigolds, and catnip.

So sorry for your loss. And yes, it was amazing to me to witness how other pets are affected. Hugs to all.

So sorry for your loss. PuffDaddy looks much like our old kitty, Taylor. When he died we already had our dog, Buffy, but they had never really 'bonded' so Buffy didn't seem to be too affected by it. I've heard of animals mourning the loss of their 'siblings', though...

When DS21 got pneumonia and hardly had enough energy to hold his head up when he was 12 yrs old, I remember how sad our dog was.

{{{Elle}}} my condolences to you and your family. It can be so hard to lose a pet, they really are members of the family.

So sorry for your loss - those fur-babies really do find their way into our hearts, don't they?

What a touching story about Chino and Studs. As far as the parakeets - I don't know much about birds but think I remember reading somewhere that they are one of the few species that tend to mate for life. LOL - how did your dh do with his allergies after having a bird for 25 years??

Our cat was an indoor cat but got out one day. He'd gotten out before and we were always able to get him back inside but not this time. He got out in August and we saw him once or twice over the following weeks but couldn't catch him. In October when dh was doing leaves he found his body nestled up against the house, right outside the window he used to like to lay in front of. Didn't look like he'd been dead too long. If only he would have come into the garage or up under the porch or something where we could have gotten him... Jason felt really bad because it was him that left the door open by mistake.
