Who would you choose ...as your fictional couples ... can you Name a couple?

Jo March and Friedrich Bhaer

Claire and Jamie Fraser

are two that come to my mind..

I love bookstores right up there with visits to my library and worry about how this

impacts authors and publisters. Waldenbooks got swallowed by Borders, Barnes and Noble is not in good finanical shape either. Kinda sad book stores maybe endangered species..

what are you reading?

I'm reading Little Bee by Chris Cleave.

I miss Kroch's too...was talking about that the other day with dh. I don't buy books, though - I'm at the library a few times/week. I'm listening to a Princess Diaries book (Anne Hathaway is a phenomenal reader - otherwise I wouldn't be bothering! Just a nice release on the way up/back to work), reading Fatal Error (Jance) and also reading Three Weeks with my Brother (Sparks; last one to catch up to all his writing). I do enough heavy stuff at work that I don't want to read heavy stuff!

Is this couple supposed to represent us? I love big, doomed, sweeping love stories like Catherine and Heathcliff from "Wuthering Heights" or Florentino and Fermina from "Love in the

I hadn't heard about Borders' financial problems although it doesn't surprise me since so many people are turning to e-reading. OTOH, every time I go into Borders it is busy with a lot of people in the check out line. I joined their rewards program and usually buy a book only when they send me a 40% off coupon... I suppose that's what a lot of people are doing so they are not making the usual markups. I also like holding a book in my hands, I suppose I'll get used to an e-reader but it won't be the same. Such sad news about another bookseller going under.

I just finished reading "The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society" which I found thoroughly enjoyable and very informative. My fictional couple of the week can be Juliet Ashton and Dawsey Adams; for a more classic couple my money is on Elizabeth Bennet and Mr (Fitzwilliam) Darcy.

Occasionally I like to browse in bookstores, but I'm not a regular and I'm afraid I'm the type of person responsible for Borders' demise--ordering on Amazon after reading the book reviews there is too convenient.
