I feel lucky to have filled up for $3.029/gal for regular last Friday, I noticed on my way home last night it is up to 3.37!

By the way, why in the world, do we still use 9/10 of a cent? Like seeing $3.379 as being more below $3.38 than it really is?

"I remember filling up for $.28 per gallon the first time I filled up."

I was 17 when I started driving, 1969. I was paying about .33/gal at the Chevron that was near our house. I drove a VW squareback so very economical---I would usually buy $1 worth of gas at a time--and the guy pumped it for me! Several miles away you could find gas for .25/gal. I remember in 1972 paying .28 at a brand X station, that 's the last price I remember from

Today we paid $4.05.9 at a Costco. Its been above $4/gal for at least a week here. Last Sunday we drove past a Shell and an Arco in an area where there were no other stations nearby, they were both charging $4.29-4.39 for regular and premium was something like $4.89. Gas is always more expensive in San Diego than in most of CA, nobody seems to know why. Just another Paradise Tax, I guess.

Gas here is $3.97 at Costco (seems to the cheapest) and $4.01 at the convenience store I visit every morning. Ugh! Amanda and I are taking a driving trip this summer from CA to AZ. I'll be flying from AZ to CO for a few days to get together with friends. Even with the rising gas prices, I think it will still be cheaper for the two of us to drive.

Hi Jean,

thanks for the heads up.

Using your site...my gas prices have already gone up 5cents already! :smileysurprised:My buddy has me at 3.74!

Like how they give your carbon footprint... and what states to stop in when tripping. The national map really highlights where the state taxes play at part1

Loved how we can look in on Canada!

Saturday I paid $3.659...was over $63 to fill the tank! Sheesh.

Yes, we will drive to summer vacation in mid August. DS and his gf plan to get together over the summer a few times; Amtrak is cheaper than driving (300 miles from St Louis to Chicago) - and will probably get him the Student Advantage card to make it even less.
