Do read The Atlantic Monthly? James Fallow is on a book leave and has guests writing his column. Ella Chou, a grad student at Harvard in Regional Studies of East Asia posted a Chinese commercial for a Skype-like/IM service,

That made me cry! I text and email ds18 daily, a few times; only text if it's something vital. I usually hear back once a day or so...we're only 7 miles away but we're still apart but close.

Okay, this made me tear up, too; what a sweet commercial. I talk/text with dd20 probably once a week. She tries to come home for Sunday dinner when she can. Yesterday she came for lunch after church (our church is really close to her dorm, so it's convenient to pick her up there). I was impressed that she made the effort to be up and dressed by 11am, lol.
Dd18 I talk to every few days. We tend to talk more as she walks between classes, so we don't skype as much as I thought we would. I don't text dd18 a lot, but dd20 is more of a texter than a talker.

I didn't even look at it, since I didn't want to cry--especially on Valentine's Day!

Hi Theresa,

I have a caller and a texter too. I got the calls from the walk to or from class too...Do you conversation sound like it is coming from a wind tunnel? I liked how Nice it was to be thought of in their alone moments.

Was the meet up at your church a surprise or planned event?

Brought a tear to my eye too! Aren't we all like that Mom? Inept in technology asking our sons for help? I know that is what I did when my DS whas home! Heck - I'm still sending him messages now asking questions about Nook's and wi-fi!! LOL

I think my DS & DD have grown to appreciate the things we have done for them to get them to this point in life. Even though they are now 8hrs away- I beleive they can live that far away because of the things DH and I taught them (although when it came time to decide what medical/dental plan to go with they each called Mom for help!) .
