If you can afford, replace. At 14yo, it will begin to nickle & dime you to death. Plus, newer appliances are much more energy efficient. We have a side by side w/water thru the door, but it's not really wide enough to fit a pan of lasagna or a sheet cake. So *I* want a french door style with freezer on the bottom! If the freezer floats up & out, so much the better!!!

We have a SubZero (came with the house) from the 70s - we service/repair and it's going strong. I love it; wouldn't change it unless we HAD to.

We got a french door model with bottom drawer freezer in counter depth. Its great in our narrow galley kitchen. The downside is that a counter depth model holds a lot less than a regular depth model. So if you can use a regular depth get that--they also cost significantly less. We got an ice maker but no in-door water or ice; in-door takes up more storage space and I can open the freezer fast to get cubes. We got a GE Profile and have had it for almost 2 years, so far so good.

Still no frig YET:smileysurprised:

First real day off is today... Worked a what a girl likes chocolate, jewelry and shopping fashion show this weekend.

I did have time to stop by Sears last night, they were open late for a friends and family 20% off night.. So I ordered a counter depth model...I am totally limited by the door width too.. So I couldn't get with a single door. My kitchen is barely 32" from one side to the other

another customer showed me what she had selected... (she was purchasing a washer dryer) she had got a French door with bottom freezer...I don't get this trend..Maybe because I'm tall... I really am more an upright freezer gal.... My pantry freezer isn't a bend over a chest type either I went upright for it too. I like the viewing all on my shelf system more.

I really don't care for the through the door stuff... More to keep clean..That and a metal paddle on the ice machine were two requests I had to meet for my hubby... So I selected one with a pur water system... My husband sells their filters hence that is handy... I got one where the ice machine was on the door side, probably keeps less ice... Looks to allow for more freezer space... I hardly kept anything on the previous tiny door shelf anywho.

What I really liked were gal size shelves and fresh pull out bins on the door for fruit/veggies and two humidity and a meat drawer. And the new LED lighting makes it look a science fiction story when you open the door... Supposedly another trend we will all witness as our lightning goes LED cooler efficient?

My kitchen is all white... Right down to my knife handles..Saving a bit there too not paying for stainless.

WOW a subzero lucky you Sue! You must have one professional looking kitchen!

My kitchen is all white... Right down to my knife handles... Saved a bit here not paying for stainless... My kitchen color is only on my cypress ceiling and wood floor. :smileywink:

Have you seen the colors you can get in washers and dryers? Purple and even lime green!

What colors are your kitchens?

Would you change the color of your washer to purple or green or_____________? If money was no option haha!

We found we missed by a month getting back a state rebate for energy efficient appliance purchases in our state... The $300 program ended on April 3. However ... This happening the end of April was helped by hitting at the end of a quarter... Better work check!
