Noting the positives

I was wondering how every one is doing with their nests empty or with less children at home, now that college students are missing.
Can we start a running list of the things you are noticing?

I love how my grocery cart no longer ends up full of gator ade.

Instead of 2-3 gallons of milk in a week, getting one every two weeks. And grocery bill being way less (although I do add money to a card weekly for him to buy food since they don't have meal plans when in on-campus apartments)

Doing 2-3 loads of laundry/week vs. almost every other day.

Waking up in the middle of the night on my own accord (rarely) vs. from the refrigerator opening or shower going or whatever when ds would get home when he felt like it over the summer.

Much less water being used from multiple showers/day.

Not having to carefully pull in or out of the garage and into the driveway as only 2 cars are at home now.

Actually probably more contact than when he was home! :o)

I love the fact that when Amanda is at school, I don't find bobby pins all over my living room. She's home this weekend to celebrate her b'day, and within 2 hrs of her walking in the door I found 3 bobby pins in the living room. I think they breed in her head!

After DS went off to college freshman year, we discovered there was only one person in the family who drank soda!

well, elle-fl, I read your post and just had to smile - at the moment I'm less of an empty nester than I've been in 10 years or so! LOL

Hi Rose,
I loved the smell of Draft ;)
How many gallons of milk are you buying?

My youngest went to see a friend in Orlando, called before our dinner hour that he was headed over and invited us to join his finace's mother for dinner. They stayed overnight with us... Unplanned... So I was digging out my supply of new tootbrushes. I wished it was longer however I will take my moments. They have set a date for next June, so it is fun to catch up on all the plans.
You must have a big home to house all your kids. Did your boys share a room?

Hi Kelly,
You need your own cow! Do you drink whole milk? I love milk with spaghetti or pizzas.
When we go to my mom's she has a pantry full of soda... Half of which is flat... Because she stocks up way too much for bridge club or something!

Hi Sharon,
I found bobbi pins this weekend too!
Did you make a birthday cake or go out to celebrate?

Hi Sue,
The drive way here for us is just pine needles and sand. When the boys were here we actually had a circular pull through up by the front door for all the vehicles. They have been gone so long we have Bermuda grass that has filled it all in.
Do your cats ever wake you up?
