That looks about like Northwestern's grading scale. WIU was a straight 4.0/3.0/2.0 scale. No plusses or minuses. Perhaps that's one of the differences between a public and private school.

All of DS's grades are X.0 or X.5, so they must grade A, AB, B, BC, etc. with 'A' being 4.0.

I went to three state universities in NY - two were ONLY A/B/C/D, one used + and -.

UF switched to the plus minus after my boys graduated. They give H grades now too for correspondence/online classes that are not on the traditional enrollment/grade schedule.

Found this interesting on repeated courses. If you take the class and do poorly less than a C, both count on your gpa

However if you retake the class with a B or C trying to get higher and get a lower grade the second time, only the first counts... but if you get a D and a D minus they both count!

I don't remember this policy when I went to school. I think every grade counted no matter how many times you took the course.

Grades Earned GPA/Credit Computation First grade lower than a C,
Second grade of C or higher Each grade computed in grade point average; credit earned only once. First grade lower than a C,
Second grade lower than a C Each grade computed in grade point average; credit earned only once. First grade of C or higher,
Second grade lower than a C Each grade computed in grade point average; credit earned only once. First grade of C or higher,
Second grade of C or higher Only first grade computed in GPA; credit earned only for first attempt

For dd20's college, it's exactly the same. Dd18's college throws in a D- for 1.3 points. At that point, D or D-, lol, I wouldn't think it much matters!
