She's moved in finally!!

Well, she made it, she's moved into her dorms and she is having a good time so far!!  Jordyn is on quarters at Oregon, so she just checked into her Acrobatic and Tumbling team this past Saturday afternoon.  My brother and her took a cross country road trip first, visiting Chicago, the Mall of America, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, and then a stop in Boise to see a friend.  She moved into her dorms yesterday, had a freshman athlete meeting and a hall meeting and call me for the first time while doing laundry last night.  It was so nice to hear from her.  She's a bit overwhelmed with the moving in and unpacking part.   I reminded her it didn't take just a day to pack it all, its not going to unpack itself in a day, give it time....  They have been doing 2-3 practices a day all week so she is a bit sore and tired from it all, but is having a blast so far.  She's still learning her way around things, and found the post office inside the Duck store today to mail her boyfriend a package and me a t-shirt she bought for me (and wore last night because she was too tired to pack and was just doing laundry).  Wednesdays and Saturdays she does not have any practice at all and her toughtest (busiest) days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays.  She has class from 9-1-, 12-1:30, weightlifting from 2:30-3:30, practice 4-6:30 and then class from 7:30-9.  Friday is her easiest day with just class from 9-10, but has 8 hours of mandatory homework/tutoring/counseling time each week so she will likely schedule a good portion of that time in on Wednesdays and Fridays.  She is excited to start classes Monday.  They team orders their books and pays for htem as part of the scholarship.  She just has to return them at the end of the semester.  If there are any books she wants to keep for future use, she has to buy those separately.  So this saves us some money.  My parents gave her a credit card to use for book money, so I told her to go ahead and use it this weekend to go buy herself a nice, quality rain jacket since she'll definitely need it and was a bit shell shocked by the price of them.

I am so excited for her!!

Oh and she texted this morning wondering why she was still so hungry after a large breakfast sandwich and a yogurt parfait and how easily she was going to run through her meal points this semester.  I reminded her that she is not used to working out so often, her body will adjust and gave her a quick reminder on nutritious foods, lots of filling, fiber foods, etc.  I am a bit surprised they haven't had at least a small nutrition talk from the coaches yet. We'll definitely have to monitor her meal points to make sure she is okay come the end of the semester.

Quarter-based universities have a late start, but I'm glad she's finally there and all sounds good so far. How nice that she got to do a bit of sight seeing on the way. Those are some spectacular landmarks! I have to say, I don't think either of my dds (or I!) could've maintained such a heavy schedule of exercise in combination with the academics. You dd must be very focused and self-disciplined! GO DUCKS! :)

I'm exhausted just reading about her schedule! I hope she loves college and all the adventures ahead of her.
