Okay here's the story we live in MI and son (18) goes to College in Cleveland OH he was home last weekend and was on his way back on Tuesday and got pulled over in/near Huron OH THis is his story.....he said it was a 4 lane road and he was in the far right lane and a mini van came up by/past him in the left lane and there was a cop on the other side of high way and clocked one of them doing 77 in a 65 he pulled my son over and wouldn't listen to him and gave him the ticket.

I would believe my boys story.

My oldest got pulled over for exceeding the limit on a on ramp to merge on to the beltway. He too had a sportscar. He even got something about having a bad attitude with the officer as I remember.

He was told by his friends to hire an attorney. The money for the attorney kept his record clean and insurance from going up and he did not have to pay the hundred something fine. The attorney handled everything as I remember.

He traded that car, for another 2 seater but this one is a hybrid... doesn't "look" as fast.

Does your son have the money to pay for the ticket or attorney himself? I would not pay for my boy's troubles... one of those be responsible for every action life lessons.

Hmmm....I'm not sure I'd believe either one of our sons if I heard that story from them, but you know your son best.

I can attest to the fact that at least here near the more rural part of Illinois there are cops who pull people over for one oddball reason or another. This was about 23 years ago, when dh and I were driving in his BMW in that area, and we were between 2 cars keeping up with traffic. We got a ticket; they got nothing. Being one lane each way there was no way we were doing anything different than the others, but we had MO plates and a foreign car. DH did get a lawyer friend involved and avoided the points or the insurance boost. FWIW.

Looks like son is just going to pay his fine and be done with it.

I hope he gets to take a class to reduce the fine and/or the charge.
