Since this is not a typical college, but is a for-profit technical school, with a spotty record for quality, graduation and job placement,

You may want to reconsider if it worth it for your son to continue in the current program.
The nearest CC may be the best option as mentioned previously.

I have heard of some CS' who don't want to return to school after a weekend or longer break at home. You have to determine how much it is due to homesickness

My dd is able to come home every 3 weeks or so. The first 2 visits, she cried because she didn't want to go back. Her boyfriend, who drove her, said she was weepy the whole way back to school. The last visit we made the packing up and goodbyes quick and there were no tears. She doesn't dislike school, but she LOVES home. Maybe it's the same with your son?

I think it is that he like Sharons dd just wants to be home. He had never been away from home before and really is a homebody.

Hi Dawn, I'm glad to read your son is doing better. The first semester is one big transition time for the family left behind and the student in their new surroundings. Everyone handles the changes differently too. Some of us are more expressive emotionally then others. Do you think coming home where everyone celebrates your birthday added to this? My two both went off to UF together their first semesters away from home. I know this sure helped me knowing they had each other even if it was across campus. Job hunting is a sure added stressor. Has he checked with his teachers or the schools to see if they have any suggestions or connections he can use to his advantage?
