Spring Break?
Thu, 02-16-2012 - 9:37am

When is your cs's spring break and are they doing anything special? Jason's starts Saturday, Feb. 25 (seems kind of early to me). He'll come home either that Friday night or Saturday morning to watch the UFC fights (dh and the boys are all huge UFC fans and always have people over for the pay-per-views). Then I believe he's going down to see his fiance for a couple days (who is still doing her undergrad at a different college). Tuesday the 28th he has to be back up at he school for some meeting, Wednesday he has a dentist appointment back here, and I'm not sure what he's doing after that. He did just find out that he got approved for a research opportunity up there over the summer. Part of the time he'll be working with someone studying a specific childhood cancer gene and the other part of the time he'll actually be shadowing an oncologist on the peds cancer unit at the hospital. The best news is that he got approved for a scholarship for it so he'll get a small stipend. He'll get a week off after classes end in May and another week off before they start in August but besides that he'll be up there all summer.

Mar 10-18 here, and when I last asked ds19, he said he didn't know yet. Knowing how money burns a hole in his pocket, my guess is no, or he might drive to see his gf in Chicago over break if they can both swing it.

Awesome on the research opportunity and scholarship! DS put in for an art scholarship but I don't know if/when he'll hear back. DH knows a lot of people down here in oncology (peds and adult) if Jason needs any connections at Wash U...

DsGS has spring break the last week of March. No classes but he may need to be in the lab that week. Even if he has the entire week free from school committments I doubt he will come home. This semester is very intense and I'm sure he'll want some time to just relax. Plus his gf attends a different U and her break is the week before.

Amanda has a week off starting March 25th. She'll be coming home, working a bit. When she isn't working, she has big plans of doing absolutely nothing! She's burning the candle at both ends at school and is looking forward to some down time. I know Ashleigh's spring break at the high school where she is student teaching is the first week of April, but I'm not sure when her university spring break is. I'm assuming it's the same week, because she mentioned something about driving down to Southern CA with her bf to visit his Dad. He just started a new job, so I don't know if that will actually happen. The district where I work has spring break the following week. Too bad they didn't all coincide so we could have done something fun together.

We have breaks that don't really intersect. Dd19 is first, March 9th. Dd21 finishes her winter term on March 14th. I am SO, SO happy she is on track to graduate, although I won't feel secure until I actually know she finishes. After that, she will work a bit and get two wisdom teeth out, and go back for her FINAL CLASS (woohoo!!!)

Jason's school calendar is very similar to DS22's.

Congrats on your son's stipend. It sounds like he will be doing some very important work. My son has spring break March 11 through March 18. He will fly home and spend the week with us. He has a couple job inviter views lined up for summer work. Nothing in his field of study, but work all the same. Otherwise his week is pretty free of obligations. Robin
