Sue in St Louis (from Chicago), ds18 is a freshman finishing up 2nd semester; declared his major a few weeks back. He wants to major in studio art, get a visual communications certificate and a communications minor. He's currently lifeguarding for 3 years now (year round) at a local community center; hopes to switch to lifeguarding at his U for the summer (7 miles from home) as the pay is better and the management HAS to be better than where he is now. He'll also take a class at the CC this summer.

DS did come home for part of spring break, after going to Chicago to spend time at his gf's house. We work FT, so barely saw him as in the evenings he'd go out with friends a lot (kinda like last summer!). No break for me - I wish my folks were around to visit.

To the party, I guess I'll bring quesadillas and chips to use with your salsa! I think a good sangria would be nice...or at least peach iced tea.

bonus question - a friend has asked if I'd like to go with her to her family's cabin in Colorado some summer - I don't think I'd have a problem swinging it but honestly I'm not sure I want to be with her for a week....I'm an early bird, she's a night owl and we have our quirks...I work with 95% men, so I'm not sure I could do an all girls trip!

Had to LOL about your dh and the hamper. My dh knows where the hamper is. It's just that he must have very poor aim as all his socks and boxers end up tossed on the floor beside it! I'll do the whole roll call thing tomorrow - just saw your post as I was headed to bed and had to reply...

Pam here in central IL. Married to dh for almost 28 years. Our boys are 21 and 23. Older ds graduated from college last June and is starts med school at Loyola at the end of July. He's been waitlisted at Wash U so there is still a slight chance he'll go there (we might get to meet yet, Sue - if he doesn't get in we'll just have to figure out a place half way between!) We all went last Friday for a 2nd visit to Loyola and he came away very pumped. He's working full time at a local call center until he heads out. Younger ds is currently living at home and going to the local community college. He dropped one class, which means he only has 10 hours this week. But better to drop than to fail as he's done in the past. He recently started a part time job at a local Lowe's. He had spring break a couple weeks ago.

DH and I have traveled several times without the boys. I wouldn't be adverse to doing a day trip with some girlfriends but honestly don't really have a big desire to vacation without dh.

As for our cyber-party - I'll bring cream-cheese filled brownies!

Theresa here, from western suburbs of Chicago. I have two college students:

Dd20 is a senior, but for a long list of reasons, she is taking a break this trimester. It's been a tough few months emotionally and physically (we just found out she likely has the same autoimmune disorder as dd18 and I)

Hi.. I'm Jennifer and I live in Downeast Maine... I have a dd18 who is planning to go to college in Manhatten next year and wants to major in International Fashion Merchandising. I think that was the final decision anyway... we're still waiting to hear back from the financial aid office to make sure it'll be covered.

Dd18 hasn't had her spring break yet, in ME they do a winter break in Feb and spring break late April. She goes to a boarding school so will come home for the weekend, head to NYC for an overnight at the college, then back for Easter weekend before heading back to school.

I would do a solo vacation, but plan to do a vacation with dd18 when she graduates college... we had originally planned to do 2wks in Europe when she graduated HS but I'm having a baby in about 5 wks so we've put that off...

Was this a plan to keep you young and on the run, or a midlife miracle?
