SO and I did plan this one... he's not my dd18's bio but is more of a dad than her bio is even though she was 14 when we started dating. He actually has a ds29, but didn't raise him as the mom married and her dh adopted him, so he didn't see him from the time he was 2 till he was 18... and ds29 has his own son 18mo. Luckily both of our kids are super excited for us. Dd18 actually says she wishes I would've done it sooner since she won't be living at home... however, she did say she won't take the baby out in public or people will think it's hers! She bought me some maternity stuff for Christmas and said people gave her the funniest looks. Ds29 calls SO and gives his advice on being a dad... it's too funny.

Well congrats, Jennifer! How does your dd feel about not being the 'baby' after 18 years? Do you know the sex? Have you had to start from scratch as far as baby stuff?

Welcome to the POCS board Jennifer!

We are glad you found us! We have a great group of parents here to help!

Congratulations on the pregnancy and Bravo to your 18yo dd for her acceptance!

Looks like you won't go through any empty nest feelings when your daughter leaves for college.

A vacation in Europe for her graduation is a great plan to keep a student looking forward to graduation!

Had either of you traveled abroad before?

My oldest was a camp counselor in Maine at Camp Laurel. What a beautiful state to call home!

Does your daughter have friends to accompany her to college?

Hi Altani,

Like I said in the other consequences thread, I am Happy you joined in! So here is another welcome to POCS!

How hard was it to see your daughter choose to go across country to school?

I know when my boys moved to Texas ( where there is only an hour change in time zones) contacting them has been nutty, can't imagine the changes affecting you daily. Did she come home for only Thanksgiving and semester breaks? With my youngest looking at Stanford I have some new aches. Not that being another half of a country away would make much difference. Maybe it is the thought I could not even consider driving there along with My mother saying you know if he goes there he probably will not come back. He looked at Stanford for undergrad ... so we know he is drawn to this school.

Hi Theresa,

Sorry to read about your (((oldest daughter's))) health and college struggle and your boy's upset stomach!

I have always tried to let my boys know, there is no real hurry, the first importance was to guard their health and happiness, as we all have a very long time to go to work.

I'm glad she attended close enough to you all so you could be there to aid her treatment and you must know the right specialists! Doesn't it seem half of the trials we have had as a Parent of College Students is learning no journey is a straight line. All our kids are different too. With every thing going on at home are you taking care of yourself?

Traveling mercies for your trip to Bloomington!

Don't forget to Let us know when you get back how the visit went!
