squirrels or rabbits?

We have 5 squirrels and a huge rabbit feasting on my garden.
Do you plant extra for the critters?
Use a fence or __________?

I think we have only 1 squirrel that raids the back garden but he's doing the work of 5 on trying to strip our apricot tree! We didn't have time to get the bird netting on it before we left on vacation, at this point I'm not sure that its worth the effort for the remaining fruit. Actually he's not getting that much fruit, but he jumps on a branch to shake off an apricot and several fall. He can carry only one, but then a bunch are off the tree. This year we got a big crop of 'cots so there's enough for everybody, I have a good collection of just-under-ripe apricots in my kitchen so I think I'll make a tart.

Since we back up to a forest preserve, and a 16 acre slough, and have no fence, you name it, it comes into our yard.

We have 10 acres and live in the country on a 1.5 lane gravel road
We live on a steep hill also.
We dont have any gardens but lots of woods surrounding us.

Deer come right on to

The squirrels don't seem to like my garden stuff, but the rabbits love to munch.

We are in a drought so the water source of the pool brongs the critters up to my gardens.
The squirrels are jumping on my window screens of the house taunting the dogs and cats!

I am losing mangos at night so maybe we have a bacon too.

I plant enough usually to can and make salsa, pickle, and sauces. This year I maybe on a canning diet!

Maybe I need a motion activated sensor to rock the critters away?
