Strange items in care packages?

So dd called me.  I guess she was in a dead zone in the dorms- she got cut off.  The rest of what she needed to tell me she texted.

Both grandmas sent her packages.  My mom sent her cookies and a Walmart card.  MIL sent her crackers, peanuts, vienna sausages and some "cheese stuff" as dd put it.  One of them put cookies in there too and as she put it "Raisin cookies that were disguised as chocolate chip" LOL

She then told me that anything she didn't want was going to go in the music dept kitchen.  So I told her to PLEASE check the "cheese stuff" and make sure it didn't need to be in the fridge.  Love MIL to death- but sometimes she's not real "careful" when it comes to food and such.  SIgh.

I guess I should be happy she called LOL.  We don't get a whole lot of talk from her.

Going to go see her on Friday.  I'm looking forward to what Chamber Orchestra sounds like.  There was a really nice write-up in the Alumni magazine about their music program, I guess I should take that too so if DD hasn't seen it yet she can.

I hope that's what MIL sent.  Stuff that you don't have to refridgerate.  You never know with MIL.  They kind of worry me sometimes- we visit her house and I'm afraid to look in her fridge.

Like dd is going to eat it anyways.  I think she's worried she's going to starve.  When she went to school many, many years ago- there was no meal plan at her school.  And I think she "forgets" that we told her dd has 160 meals a semester AND $100 voucher.  She's not going to starve LOL.

That's funny about the cookies cause I hate it when I think I'm going to eat a chocolate chip & I get a raisin which I hate.

Hi Cheryl,, Vienna sausages?? They ought be a hit in the music kitchen :smileywink: Does she call her grands from college? Will you be taking anything she forgot back when you visit? My husband bought a scooter at a yard sale yesterday that he thinks my youngest needs.

DD called again (should I be worried?  happy?  LOL).  This time she wanted to know if we wanted a cat that they found by the music building.  Even though I miss the big grey thing we had to put down last month- I do NOT want 3 animals again.  Nor do I want to listen to one complain the 4 hour ride back from school LOL.

She also sounded excited about us coming on Friday.  I kind of feel bad- we waited until the last minute to get a hotel room so we can only stay until Sat :smileysad:  Not to mention I got roped into helping in the toddler room in the church nursery- so I'm committed to that every single Sunday (unless I tell the preschool director in advance I won't be there).   We still get to see her concert Friday night, and then she said she wanted to do something with us Saturday.

And I guess she's coming home in 3 weeks for break.  She's not sure when though- something about a class that she's not sure if her professor's going to cancel or not.  And she wants her grandmother to see campus when she comes here for Christmas.

And she's now got to stay a week later at the end of the year.  Orchestra plays in Commencement.  The end-of-the year program at her school orchestra is during the time she'd still be in school. She loved the teacher, loved many of the kids who are still underclassmen in the program and it would mean a lot for her to go.

Even though she left that program with a bad taste in her mouth. Basically she was told by the teacher how "wonderful" she was, how much she'd be missed- and then she gets NO recognition at all by a scholarship, etc.  I was mad too, I have let it go since my youngest is in the exact same program, she really enjoys it, so since I have to maintain a relationship with the exact same teacher/ group that "snubbed" my oldest I needed to let it go.  Anyways- I told her we'd make it work somehow, even if it means we pick her up/ drive her back, and then pick her up again 5 days later.

Hi Cheryl, Are you packed yet? I need to get myself off the sofa to do my own! My mom flies in tomorrow. We lucked out my husband had enough frequent traveler points to get us free rooms to visit my youngest. Will you be taking the cat carrier just in case she has the kitty waiting on you? :smileywink: Is the break in 3weeks for Columbus day?
