With all this spirited high volume retail time, my company always seem to open new stores right before Thanksgiving.

The last week has been a bunch of loooong days.
With stores opening earlier we start our day changing displays earlier. I havestarted work at 4:30 this week. It will feel like I was sleeping in to get up today for church :robotvery-happy:

Definitely outside the box this year - I'm doing parmesan garlic breadsticks and chocolate gooey butter cake vs the usual crescent rolls and pumpkin/apple/pecan pies to bring to MIL's.

It will be traditional here. The only thing I am doing different this year is that I will try brining the turkey. Ds is in charge of bringing the dressing so I never know what version he will bring. Otherwise the same old mostly simple recipes. There will be only 6 of us so I'm not making a huge amount of food. And I do double check the recipes for ingredients then check the pantry before making my shopping list, I don't want to be bothered with having to run to the crowded store in the middle of cooking for one item. When I do Christmas baking I make a spread sheet of the recipes and the amounts of the various ingredients to get a total of cups/pounds of sugar, butter, flour etc that I need on hand.

Don't know yet - our first mattress was also very deep so I hope we're ok; now for the full in ds's room, not sure as we definitely don't have deep pockets for those sheets.

Hi Elle, sorry its taken me weeks to come back with the recipe for Smoked Marlin Dip. I don't know quantities but its done by taste to "how you like it" anyway. Sorry its so vague but its dh's department, I just have the ingredients on hand then come back when its ready to eat!

Shred a hunk of smoked marlin into a mixing bowl, and stir in whipped cream cheese, mayo, a bit of lemon juice, a few drops of red hot sauce, and some juice from pickled jalapeno peppers (like you put on nachos). Adjust to taste. The fish is usually salty from the smoking brine so no need to add more salt. Its best on a sturdy cracker, we like it on the reduced fat Triscuit.

Dd did not come home for TG, too far to travel for such a short visit. She and bf went to a restaurant in Chinatown and had a whole chicken. Ds was here, he contributed the dressing and a nice bottle of wine.

Dd will be home for Christmas (on my nickel, its dh's and my gift to ourselves to see our dd after a year) for 5.5 days and I can hardly wait.

Is work still crazy?
